John Trollope, Don Rogers & Paul Bodin all entered in hasll of fame previously

There was a list read out on RS of the others entered and about a way fan's can vote for the final few places., anyone know where these details are as it seems that again stfc haven't put it on their website which I think is a bit of a poor show

I missed the program (gonna catch it on iplayer) but it was something like 55 other players were named, and fans will have the choice to pick 2 from a short list of 10 to bring the final total to 60.

Some decent thought gone into that, was half expecting it to be a few from 69 and then 1990 onwards.

I could see Parkin being a contender, but Cox only played about half as many games for us. Dave Bamber would have a better shout (although more likely a Blackpool legend than a Swindon one), but I note that Chris Kamara is not on there - 2 x spells of over 200 appearances has to count for something? Also, does a couple of spells at the Town, commentary for the local station and running a pub in the town put Phil King in contention - or has his recent court case scuppered his chances?

How about Paul Rideout rather than Cox? Similar record but Rideout was the youngest ever Swindon player, and a stand-out player in a crap team (plus he showed some loyalty)

Parkin should be in there without question.

Concerning Cox, Parkin etc., I made a point in another thread a few weeks ago about players who put a shift in but, ultimately, did not contribute to much in the way of success for the club.  For me, the point still stands.

Unless you're going to admit scores of players to the Hall of Fame, which would devalue the exercise, I would personally set a criterion that the player must have contributed to a successful event (promotion, trophy win) or period in the club's history.  In 20 years from now, I'm sure Cox and Parkin will still be remembered fondly by those of us old enough - but the younger generation would probably ask what exactly did these players achieve for the club?  For that reason, I'm not sure you can put them in the same bracket as Harold Fleming (FA Cup semi-finalist), Don Rogers (League Cup winner/deity) or Shaun Taylor (captained us to in the Premiership).

You could argue quite strongly that it was only cox's goals that kept us up the other season. Whether surviving in league one can be seen as a success is another matter though
