Weird as he never got started here really despite scoring goals for Torquay.
I heard he was shit in training so that may be why?

Defintely one of the oddest signings ever. Right up there with Richard Greene, Curtis Fleming and Adrian Bakali.

Although unlike the above, he did get to start a game.

Curtis Fleming went on to have a good career. We were just too far ahead of the game on that one.

Yes, as you say, he did go on to have a good career. It was still a strange signing for us though in that he did not actually kick a ball in anger for us. Whenever we sign a player and he doesn't actually get to play for us, I tend to file that under 'strange'.

He went back to Ireland as he was homesick then ended up in Middlesborough. must have been some fucking chemical ridden zombie shithole he was from in Ireland.

We've played against Benyon a fair few times over the last few years, and he's always done well against us. Looked very good at Torquay the season before last, I expect he'll score again at Southend.

As a Southend fan it would be interesting to hear a few more views on the lad. Clearly didn't set the world alight but wondering if you guys can give any more info on him. Sounds like a good deal all round to be fair.

To be fair it's hard for us to really judge him. Hardly did much but only played 12 games.

To me seems very lightweight and didn't do much outside the box.Probably a player who is best suited feeding on scraps in the box.

From what i hear though he has a pretty awful attitude.

I don't think anyone can judge him on his Swindon performances to be fair, seeing as there were so few of them. Even when we were fighting relegation and desperate for points the gob shite that was Paul Hart would only play one up front even at home. And that one wasn't Benyon. I suspect he will do ok for Southend.

Well, he certainly wasnt Charlie Austin!

He'll score the winner against us from a Timlin assist, no doubt.

Are you sure he kept telling us it was 3?  Smiley
