Whilst Steve Evans is clearly a deeply, deeply, deeply unpleasant man, isn't what he did at Boston pretty much the same crime as Macari/Hillier got us hammered for? Bid low at tribunals, pay low stated wages and top up with brown envelopes?

Up to a point, but Evans was trying to cover things up by using hardmen to try and shut his players up.

Its still not a million miles away from what we were doing though.  Don't get me wrong, we were doing the same as what many were, and our punishment was highly out of context. However I do still get uncomfortable when we start sneering at other clubs for their financial misdemeanors.  Its not the fault of that club's fans, just as it wasn't our fault as fans back then.

I think Evans is just trying to whip their massive fanbase into a baying frenzy, turning the ground into a Galatasaray style bear pit of intimidation..

When we beat them hope Evans in his anger don't start setting fire to buildings and looting the club shop, if they have one !

The FA or the Inland Revenue must have their eye on Crawley though surely?

Some dodgy dealing is bound to break the surface sooner or later....

Fucking embarrassing... and I only have to live here.  If we don't win, I'm not sure I will ever live it down.

I lived in poundhill for a few months.

Who gives a fuck about Crawley Town - just because they won the conference and have a few bob punters and their supporters think they are a big club, well you are little minnows in the football world and you will come down with one almighty bump.
When you hear the name Crawley, I'm sure like me immediately you think of it as a Gatwick overflow town or somewhere to meet at one of their hotels for a business meeting.

Didn't much like Creepy...he seemed, well, creepy. Last of the Oxbridge toffs to get into the England side....had two brothers Mark and Peter who both played first class cricket and were public school Oxbridge types.

Bit like Hick and Ramps could do it when the going was easy, but had no bottle.  Atherton would have been a bit before, and similarly privileged,  but at least he was up for a fight, as shown by his epic rearguard action in SA against Alan Donald

I wish Paolo would simmer down and focus on the job in hand.  I don't care that he's 'laughed in the face of 70,000 Man U fans'.  Not relevant here.  Evans was angling for a reaction with his comments and now he's got one.  A dignified 'no comment' would have been a lot classier.
