If Douglas was going to be here next season then his contract would have been offered and signed by now.
Superb player, but too expensive for us in League 2.

Douglas implied (on twitter) that the club have an option of an automatic extension on his current contract. Whether we invoke that then try to sell him anyway is anyone's guess. Possibly a bit risky as I agree he is too expensive (and good )for us in league 2.

Ok for maybe the 100th time it's been said. Any contract offeed will be on a lower wage that was included incase of relegation.
Also am i not right in saying it would be stupid not to offer a contract because he will then leave for free,if we offer and he turns it down then we still get a fee.

Yes but how much % does Douglas take up of our playing budget, even after reduction. I have no idea but I'd wager a significant one.

if the had a relegation % drop then it woudlnt be no more than 25% if hes on 4k a week then its would still be to exspensive for league two but if getting shot of prutton is what it takes to keep dougie then so be it.
i thought Jesionkowski left and then he turns up on the bench against oldham. so he must be in someones plans, is scott still on loan to SS?

I would also imagine he is significantly better than anything we will attract next season

The Polish keeper should start on saturday just to see what he's like. If no good, get him off the books ASAP.

As do I. We pretty much all agree keeping him would be excellent. But we have a massive rebuild to do. We have to get shot of enough of the current wage bill to rebuild other key areas and get the wage bill down to fit the cap. This may unfortunately include Douglas. Plus I can't in a million years think he will want to stay and pay in division 4. Might be wrong, we'll see.

Prutton must be on a fair wedge, considering how hard our manager's tried to fit him into our team.

The club will be talking about contracts when a new manager is put in place.
From what I've heard and read (In the Adver today in the Sheehan article) it implies that Wrey wants to keep the likes of Douglas here long term (the bit where the agent says) ''Jeremy (Wray) has been a different class and is fighting tooth and nail to keep the squad together and I cannot praise him enough''.
Also I think the board would have done their homework on how much the wages needed to be cut for the players to stay here under the League 2 revenue laws etc.
