I would have thought Douglas would also have to agree to the extension?

Isnt the clause that a new contract gets automatically offered when the quota of games is hit, then its up to Douglas to agree to it and sign?

I dont remember any concrete stories about his contract being extended by a further year.

As far as I'm aware he's out of contract in May and he can fuck off.

From what he's saying it's up to the board. He has said it himself that he is settled here.

I would love him to stay. He hasn't been the problem.

Finances; spending and income; can be worked out with fairly simple(ish) maths.

Luckily football is more complicated. Whilst obviously the football and finance sides tie together, and I appreciate the board trying to work one into the shape of the other. You can't run a football team on a simple ideological set of rules, well maybe if you had an infinite amount of resources, but we don't and we can't.

That is where our board has gone horribly wrong.

People need to remember that we got out of Div 4 last time by spending money we didn't have, that won't happen this time....a drop in revenue will mean a drop in playing budget. The key to any success then will be in getting the management right....you can succeed in Div 4 on little resources...see D and R and Stanley.

here lies the peril....it's an inexact science....if we get it wrong then we could be looking at a season of struggle. Money might seem like a safe pair of hands, they wanted him last time, but wouldn't pay Newcastle.....but Money fucked up at Luton.

We spend money we don't have every fucking season. Stop posting absolute negative drivel for the sake of it. Div 4, spending/budget cuts, worst season in the world ever.... I bet you're having a good tug at the thought of it.

At least DV doesn't get any pleasure out of our peril, for you I am not so sure.

It is reasonably difficult to take any positives from this season, sadly that's just the way it is. If you would like to enter some positve thoughts into the debate, then feel free. I'm nothing if not open minded.

I think quite a few people have realised that there's more to life on a Saturday afternoon. That's pretty positive. It's only football after all.

Which, again, does not mean that we are doing it on the cheap. Does it?

Yes

Bart

A forum is traditionally a place where people meet and discuss things. If I am not mistaken, it is in fact a roman word.

The idea is not only to express your opinion, but also to elaborate so that others have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts. But they need to know your thoughts if they are to discuss them.

So if you would, please, do expand........
