i remember people saying cuthbert was better, and i remember aruging he wasn't. i also said greer should be player of the year. some of us could see how valuable he was when he was still here.
Yeah...so valuable he fucked off at the first sniff of Faggotts in the fresh sea air. He was good...........but not that good.

Not denying that tans....i liked Greer a lot.
Fact is though he was no world beater...far from it,in fact i would go as far to say that the Charlton away match showed he was a liability at times, and has had similar moments at Brighton. Not doubting he was a good captain...he was,i am old fashioned and we pulled him off the scrapheap....he fucked off at the first opportunity after one season.........this is just my personal opinion.
His departure the cause of our problems?..................not for me,more to it than that.

leefer this has been done to death but,his value is blatantly obvious as is the huge void in his absence. he didn't just fuck off either.he went about things in the right way and it was fitton who made the move happen.greer would have stayed. he is much better than his replacement(morrison)proved to be.

Well obviously Reading didn't agree arriba..........they as i did feel Morrison is/was a very good prospect. You are guessing that Greer would have continued his good form......well JPM,Cuthbert,Douglas,Ferry etc were all in good form as well last season....so what makes you think that Greer would have been the exception? Fact is you dont...........dont try and convince me that the departure of Greer was the reason of our decline, one player just isn't that big. Greer is playing in a good side full of confidence....wonder how good he would be in our team at present.
Lets agree to disagree arriba.

i'm not trying to convince you greer is the reason for our decline.he is a big part of it though. that is pretty much the opinion of everyone at the club(board level included) how reading value morrison has nothing to do with greer too.

Well you mentioned Morrison arriba.....not me.. As for the board and there opinions......well they havn't been up to much lately.....so personally i will stick to my opinions......not your's or there's. A bit of a contradiction saying the board thought he is missed......they sold him.

It's not really a contradiction leefer. They sold him yes presumably because they didn't realise how much he would be missed (in common with many fans, but that's no excuse), they do now realise (sadly too late) quite how much we have missed him. I think arriba's point was pretty coherent tbh and equally I'm not surprised you're loath to take the board's opinion on players' worth as compelling evidence

Greer is playing in a good side full of confidence....wonder how good he would be in our team at present My two penneth - IMO he was the key mainly due to the this reason. The counter argument is obviously be that this team may not be so hopelessly devoid of confidence with Greer in it. Lets not forget that when Greer first came in on loan at the end of the season he was a key player in keeping us up, when he came in to a team not exactly high on the confidence themselves at the time.
