Always on the lookout for more new music...my last favourite three albums have been

Glasvegas - outstanding
Vaccines - Good
Lykke Li - Brilliant...(thanks Bogud Dave)

if anyone has any other reccomendations along these lines I would like to hear about them
particualry gk_nash and Bogus Dave since we seem to be pretty much on the same lines...

(not sure on horrors though)

Have you had a listen to the horrors?  I know their image is some sort of doomy goth band and I was pretty sceptical as well, but this album is brilliant.  Reminiscent of psychedelic furs and other really good early 80's indie rather than any gloomy goth.

The other album I keep going back to this year is Smother by Wild Beasts.  The vocal can be off putting until you get used to it but persevere, its a great hour of atmospheric indie.

Few years old now, but I've rediscovered it I suppose, good little song.

Might have to dig that album out now you've posted that, Nemo. It's a good one for summer driving.

Seeing the mention of Lykke Li above has prompted me into posting this which has been in my head all day:

Saw her last Sat night - brilliant!

Wow, now that's a great song, not heard it before, I was always a fan of Midnight Organ Fight, but kinda forgot about FR since, thanks for the reminder!

Don't get them at all?! After being hyped up by everybody last year, I thought that I'd check them out at Glastonbury, 15 mins later and we were walking back out from the John Peel Stage.

Can understand that they're not to everyone's taste but I really like them - don't have the latest album but really liked the first 2 (especially Two Dancers) and thought they were good (but not great) when I saw them live last year.

Liking a few atm that, say a year ago, I wouldn't have expected myself to like.

These are like Friendly Fires and, by all accounts, are really good live.

This bloke's going to be the next big thing, one of my sounds of the Summer!

Listened to the album on the advice of gk_nash and really glad I did, fantastic!

Fast becoming one of my favourite bands.

Love this bloke, all three of his singles released so far are brilliant.

And finally, my favourite song on their debut album, great lyrics!
