Been listening to Patti Smith's covers album, Twelve. I find Patti very touching, a genuine heart-on-the-sleeve rebel poet. These two are standouts, completely reinventing the originals.

I've reacquainted myself with a prog rock band I discovered a couple of years ago called 'The Dear Hunter' but didn't QUITE get totally rapt with at the time. Now utterly enthralled. This was the first song I heard by them, it's a doozy:

And something a bit different:

Anyone remotely interested in prog rock should do themselves a favour and give these guys a whirl

Doesn't seem as if much has changed in 35 years.

On a rather different tack for all you old ravers, big fan of Daniel Avery's new stuff including this elegy to Andrew Weatherall he recorded when he was in the studio last year and heard about Wetheralls passing.  His latest album is pretty damn good too.

A couple of people have mentioning enjoying this one. I found it through an artist called Moodyman and his DJ Kicks compilation. He's 'Neo Soul', apparently, when making his own stuff like this:

Quite an early Outkast sound to it for me and I love this one.

Here's the DJ Kicks album, quite diverse in sounds:
