It's easy to forget the look and feel of a place after more than 3 months since venturing into the heart of the seething metropolis. This came to mind fairly quickly. In a fond way.
And a reminder of what live music was like.

I saw The Pogues at Madstock 30 at Victoria Park in 2009 and McGowan was awful, so pissed he couldnt even stand up for a some of the set and sung from a stool, the flute player had to speak between songs to say what was coming next as Shane couldnt put together 2 words. I could not understand any vocals all set.
The flautist had to apologise several times for Shanes condition, really put me off them since then.

Have always enjoyed this tune by Grizzly Bear. The same music was mixed & rapped over by Childish Gambino before he was "big". Both uses of the track are fantastic.
The video to the original always reminds me Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun. Likely the creepy smiles and big eyes. And in essence, those three very different artists, about sum up my taste in music. All brilliant for different reasons.
Just realised as well, just over 3yrs since Chris Cornell died. Definitely a musician much missed.

Wonderful. They were the last gig I saw. March 11th.  Needless to say that the strongly worded letters of complaint to the Office of Xi Jinping have gone unanswered. Bet they'd be on the blower soon enough if they knew that the world's richest cobalt deposit was in my back garden. Then again Swindon could do with some Belt and Road Initiative. The Moonies junction would have been sorted in a couple of days, not 7 or 8 months.  |
