Definitely an acquired taste and as you'd expect from a band with so much output, inevitably it is variable.
And Mark E Smith does what he wants. Saw them once , he was in a stroppy mood throughout and after about an hour said he'd had enough and just walked off.
He sang 3 songs from behind a speaker and you could not see him and then he proceeded to take the bass guitar and lead guitar and retune them totally out of tune and made them play on....it was just a noise to me.

I'd almost forgotten about the Meat Puppets!  This was always my favourite:

New Editors Album is out at the end of the month. They've become, to my surprise, my favourite band, and I can barely listen to anything else recently, so to say I'm excited is an understatement. This is one of the songs off of it, and I keep waking up with the chorus going round and round my head.

Yes, yes, yes! Love their album. Listening to it lots at the moment.

The 3rd video you posted is the best one (Spitfire). On the album Everest and the following track (Signal 30) are my favourites:

I don't know why, but I really like the europop shite that this lot have done over the last 30 years! Bit embarrassing to admit, but:
