Pericard's like a lower-league Heskey. Holds the ball up well, doesn't score many himself but brings other players in, massively divisive in fans' opinions between those who think any forward should be a goal-scorer and those who can kind of see the point (even if they're not especially convinced)

a fair comparison.trouble is when you play that role the ball has to stick to then bring others into it.too many times its bouncing off all over the place which leads to his second touch being a tackle and often a free kick to the oppostition

Good point Arriba, and his desire to win the ball back after a shit first touch is rarely there.

I wouldn't say 5 goals from 13 games (9 starts) was a terrible return for a striker at this level. Not saying he's exactly prolific, but definitely seems to be improving on that front.

Quite.  As long as we get Charlie back soon and he's firing the way he was last season, a score rate of approx 0.4 goals per game from Vince would be just fine.

Wasn't it the same ref that gave that dubious penalty to Hartlepool for a high boot?

Well after reading through I agree with a fair bit of whats been said.

Ritchie was outstanding, Ball looked excellent, Douglas ran the midfield 2nd half, Ferry looked eager and full of running, Rose was pretty good, Morrison and Cuthbert excellent, Lucas did all that was asked of him, Manks got better as the game went on but was not top of his game, JPM was pretty quiet apart from 1 or 2 good passes and one attrocious free kick, and Pericard up front started slow and plodding and uninterested but improved as the game continued but is still not a lone striker/target man as most of the game we were playing 451 and not 433.

Overall so fucking glad to have some bragging rights over the Rovers supporting mates.

They brought us down to their level first half but we mullered them second period.

Excellent result and only 600 Rovers fans there....very poor showing by them.

I wouldn't say it's a terrible return either. But I don't think anyone's arguing he's a natural goalscorer. He'll chip in to the overall total, but it's not the main thing he brings to the party

No that was Andy Hall, I only remember that because a mate was the linesman for that half of the pitch that night and come to think of it I haven't spoke to him since.

Much improved overall. First half was pretty dire stuff from both teams. Scrappy derby day fare I suppose. Then both teams hit the woodwork and I'd say the game started to turn in our favour from there. If Manks needs this surgery then I think he should get it done soon and we should sort some cover out ASAP. He's starting each game quite poorly, I think the formation tweak in the 2nd half helped him a bit, but his passing was still fairly inconsistant. That is probably my biggest gripe from last night.

Other than that, solid performances all over the pitch. Especially impressed with Ritchie and how Ball seems much more at home on the right. Ferry and Dougie bossed it, much like they were doing last season and Rose had his best game to date. It probably gives him alot more confidence having a winger infront of him like Ritchie. Pericard did well at times, not so great at others. Good job he was flagged offside when he hit the post, still, I'd imagine he's rather embarrassed about that.

Well done Town, more of that 2nd half from now on.
