Maybe the day we beat the Scummers when our winning goal was scored thruogh a smokebomb fog.

I'm missing around 50 games from my memory according to programmes in the loft. I may well have been there what was the year?

I wish the TEF would stop deleting my posts when I press the post button.

Awful first half with a goal at the perfect time. Amankwaah, JPM, Ferry and Pericard all being pretty poor.

They all got better second half. Ferry had a fantastic second half. Amankwaah took a bit longer but seemed to finally settle towards the end.

Second goal was a great move. Ball was superb and Ritchie was fantastic. Best player on the pitch by a fucking mile. I hope Steve Cottrill wasn't watching tonight.

Good result but not overally convinced by the performance. Rovers were as poor as anything else we've played this season.

Time to kick on...

Without looking it up i can't remember. The whole of the 80s passed in an alcoholic haze. It was the year they got promoted and we got relegated and done us 5-0 at their place. It was the one where after the game all hell broke loose on the Magic - great fun that day - proper old school.

As many have said, it was a poor first half and a much improved second.

I was watching on Sky from London. I think it was Jason Roberts who said we looked more like 4-5-1 than 4-3-3 in the first half. I think this was largely because we failed to dominate the centre of the park, so Ball and Richie weren't given the freedom to get forward. It was all a bit tentative with shades of the Dagenham game...thankfully we got our act together and put a few balls into the box though.

Second half Douglas and Ferry took control and JPM hassled them. That allowed us to find space on the wings and Richie really came into his own. Great play from him and Ferry for the 2nd goal. We had the odd moment at the back but generally looked solid. Rovers gave us a game but really should have punished us for our first half performance. The penalty decision was soft but probably correct. Even if it was harsh you can see why he's given it.

All in all it was much more encouraging. I'm not sure what I make of the idea of Charlie as the lone front man. He did ok once or twice last year in that role but to carry it through the year is asking a lot. I suppose we'll see soon enough how Danny wants to use him in this system.

First ten minutes I was seeing double, even triple. Thought it was the pre-match beers but it turned out to be a contact lense malfunction. Some eye poking later and all was well.

Whilst Rovers did dominate to begin they couldn't break through. The rest of the first half had little quality on offer. However, a great cross from Rose and another towering header from Morrison stunned them.

Thought they would come out all guns blazing so I was surprised when we were the team taking it to them. Great play between Ritchie and Ferry for the second goal.

I could go on, but a good win. Glad I could be there.

I think we managed to get the ball into a couple of good positions straight after half-time, which immediately put Rovers on the back foot. It's amazing how one or two little breaks can encourage you to push on.

I can't believe how shit we were in the first half. I lost count of the number of times our players didn't even challenge for the ball or played the dumbest of passes, they were playing like they were on drugs. How we didn't end up going a goal down before we scored I'll never know.

I can't believe how good we were in the second half. Easily up there with some of our best performances last season. Passing was spot on, plenty of runs, challenging for every ball and so on.

Not quite sure what caused the change, maybe Wilson giving them a bollocking. Though I did notice we seemed to be defending very deep in the first half, allowing them plenty of space to bring the ball forward and attack. Didn't notice it being a problem in the second half and we seemed to be pushing forward and closing down a lot more.

Ritchie was a different class tonight, best player on the pitch by some distance. Potentially the long term answer to our problem on the left, if we can get Portsmouth to sell him in January.

Great game, was as annoyed with the first half as I was delighted with the second. At times during that second half we were starting to look like our old selves and that makes me wet.

Also, as it keeps getting mentioned, Morrison has 2 years left and an option of a 3rd if I heard right somewhere or other. Was it Dave telling me? Was it Fitton who said it in an interview? Was it me making it up? I dunno, but I definately heard it from somewhere which means it is true. Now where's OST to "FACT" it?

Agree with a lot of what's been said, but Michael Rose deserves a mention tonight. Looked far more confident on the ball, linked well with Ritchie and put a cracking cross in for the 1st goal. Without that delivery we could all be going to work in a very different mood in the morning!
