To be honest I thought the atmosphere at our end was crap. 2 reasons for it. No.1, the fans were quite spread out in places, where I was just up from the corner flag we had 40 or 50 empty seats down in front of us.
2nd and most important is that the player just never got going, were 2nd best all over the pitch and there just wasn't anything to sing about. And then were in to a chicken and the egg scenario, and from my perspective the players have a part to play in getting the crowd geed up by competing, not pulling out of tackles and being bullied all over the pitch.
So proud of our season but the day was a let down performance wise. Will be better next year!

I would have improved the atmosphere, but unfortunately I was stuffed full of free food. And not a vol au vent in sight.
Fuck off. Fucking disgraceful. Biggest game for 17 years and you only care about the free food. Fucking day trippers.

Jeez Paul, it's gone, it's over. Forget it.
Along with white kit at Wembley, Ben Hutchison and orange hats.
You've got two months off now, enjoy them mate.
Yep, I'm inclined to agree. Even then this thread has become a bit of a pointless exercise - it's not as if we can make sure we do things differently next week when we go to Wembley. Perhaps the issue should be resurrected if and when we're due to go to Wembley again. I suppose the only way round the issue is to have a few hundred people who will sing sat in close proximity to each other, which would probably be difficult but not impossible to organise.

I think alot of the problems regarding the atmosphere was the way the tickets were sold, in the 90s me and 10 of my mates qued at the CG & purchased 10 each which meant there was a 100 or so all sat together, this also meant you could all stand up together a sing without having some knob telling you to sit down or look at you as if you had just got out of a mental home, the buying online thing made it harder to get everyone together

At the CG everyone knows (or figures out pretty quickly) the various sections of the ground, especially where the standing and singing sections are so you can make sure you get your tickets in the right section and everyone is happy. It's the same with away games, as everyone knows standing and singing is a given so you need to put up with it if you don't like it.
But that all goes out of the window when it comes to Wembley, or at least it did this time. So maybe next time round the club should be getting together with the fans to allocate sections of Wembley to the relevant sections of support at the CG.
Maybe work out some way to get some instruments (or any kind of noise making device) to help generate more of an atmosphere. Plus making sure there is a sea of the same colour in our end as well - the Blackpool end was pretty much all orange and I'm sure that must help the fans and players get a bit more hyped.
I know it sounds a bit gay, but how about song sheets? Some simple songs printed up and handed out en masse to ensure we're all working to the same script. Again, I know it sounds gay but anything that helps is worth a try.

Everyone was excited about Wembley and didn't envisage what happened. If we did, I'm sure we could have organised just going in one block for the 'vocalists'. It's not like tickets suddenly went on sale.
But I don't think people would do this anyway. It's just like the DRS and Town End situation at our place. A lot of people don't want to sacrifice their view/position in the ground for a better atmosphere.
If we're going to rectify the situation, we need to get more people chanting at our place. I've heard the DRS and Arkells have a bit of a go towards the end of the season and the Town End pick up too. I'm sure the football continues to be as good we can make it happen in the stands.

OK perhaps they were frustrating but I don't think blaming the trippers is that clever. You are allowed to go and support a team for the day and be a whole lot less passionate.
The 7,000-8,000 passionate fans week in week out? The Arkells? The DR? We need to look at ourselves.
Its difficult to get a sustained chant going over such a sustained area for so many so in fact the simple "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil" is effective. If you want 30,000 to give a common chant it needs to be simple.
Playing in bloody red might have given a more obvious "C'mon U Rdz"! Both the blue and the white looked like STFC away to me but the support was very County Ground on a bad day except with more numerous pockets trying unsuccesfully to get things going.
Completely agree all of those comments. Before the game I wasn't bothered by the red vs white shirt debate but it did seem to make a difference in getting everyone going. The acoustics at Wembley were terrible as you couldn't hear chants from elsewhere in the ground (I was in Block 140). Yes the new Wembley is fantastic looking architecture and has all the facilities but the old Wembley had some soul and meaning to it, all the history and the Wembley roar.
I don't blame the day trippers as most of us brought along friends and relative who don't go regularly and if we another 500-1000 turning up regularly next season we will have done well. A dissappointing day and how we react next year will be crucial, it we push on again next year from the start we can get the momentum going, a slow start and we might bve back to square one

One other thought that came to me this afternoon. We've been beating ourselves up since Saturday about the poor atmosphere and lack of vocal support in the ground. It's worth remembering, though, that just weeks before we completely outsang Charlton over both legs of the semis. Something just did not click on Saturday. If we get to Wembley again some time soon, we'll be better prepared and I'm sure we'll put on a better vocal show for the players.

I think people are just looking for a grumble without trying to direct anything towards the performance from the players, mainly because even though it was an utterly shit game from our perspective, it's been an incredible turnaround to even get there.

Did you have a 'singing section' at Wembley? I think it was Cambridge who started the idea the other season, the central blocks of the bottom tier behind the goal are available only to season ticket holders first, then everyone else, and supporters are reminded that a singing section includes 'passionate supporters who may use colourful language at times' - tends to weed most of the daytrippers out and improves the atmosphere as you get the core fans bunched up. Would definitely be worth a go next time.
