New series of Andor, I saw the scenes in the wheat fields being filmed last year outside a village called Cuxham, outside O*ford. Weeks and weeks of build up, then a couple of days of mad security and big screens blocking the views, then it all disappeared soon after.

A lot of the Star Wars stuff is filmed quite close to me in Shinfield now (the huge studios right by J11 of the M4). I worked in the building next to them but Disney bought out the offices. The bastards.

Scroobius Pip talked about the set up there a bit when he was an extra in the Acolyte, sounded very impressive. Lots of big films using their spaces as well.

Secreted in the Curfew Micropub in Berwick after completing the Northumberland Coast Path.
Five days of good walking.

Have to say that there are some excellent pristine sandy beaches up here & not overly blighted by static holiday home parks compared to other areas like parts of Pembrokeshire for example.

Seven golf courses to negotiate along the way though.

Friendly locals but everyone seems to be a dog owner, of more than one in a lot of cases.

Head back via LNER tomorrow, who are pretty good with text notifications of reminders & delays.
Not sure if they have a quiet carriage, quite possibly
GWR still do.

The train companies will be nationalised gradually as their franchises run out. Will be glad to see the back of some them.
Not sure if it will make much of a difference in the long run.

Spend/spent a lot of time on the Northumberland coast (have a couple of weeks in Boulmer each year) and totally agree its pretty special, albeit it has got noticeably busier since Covid days, I assume as more discovered it when they couldn't go abroad.

On a similar cheery vein just got back from a few days cycling round WW1 sites in Flanders, weather was great, beer even better, in 140 odd miles no abuse from drivers or close passes what’s not to like (well actually the drive to and from Dover was horrific but that's life!)

Maybe it's because of the excellent eye testing facilities up at Barnard Castle that's drawing the crowds.

Stopped off at The Fishing Boat Inn in Boulmer, they were doing a roaring trade as was the Ship Inn further up in Newton.

Yeah, first four days were not exactly solitude but today coming up from Holy Island was pretty much in splendid isolation.
