Just off to the Chippenham comedy festival to see Mark Thomas, Richard Herring on Sunday.  Yep, Chippenham has a comedy festival!

Good ol' Hodgson. He got some decent names. Richard Herring performing in a pub.

Nice work Wil.

Did my second stand-up gig last night. Went a fair bit better than the first and I was a lot less nervous. Will take that after three months of not doing anything.

At The Three Crowns?  I have a little bit of man love for Mark Thomas, I've been to see him do Bravo Figaro and Walking The Wall at the Tobacco Factory.

Yeah.  He was brilliant.  He was doing a warm up for his new Edinburgh show 100 acts of minor dissent.  That'll definitetly be worth catching.  Really good night.  Major respect to Wil Hodgson for sorting it.

He seems like a good bloke, never really met him but he used to come around my mates sometimes years back.  I always thought he was a bit shy to be a comedian, then again he was possibly a little intimidated by what he might have thought were thuggish young lads at the time.

Love the ciders they do in The Three Crowns, although every time I've been in there it seems like there's a beer festival on.  It's where I'd choose to drink if I was around still, since The Old Road went shite.

Just got back from a week holiday in west Wales. Was absolutely superb. The weather was excellent, over 20c every day, the people were friendly the local ales and ciders were even better. First holiday in a caravan on site and had my doubts about it being chavtastic but was brilliant.

Welsh valleys are so beautiful. A lot of people dig the welsh, but if you go past Swansea you see a completely different place.

Yeah, it really is fucking stunning some of the scenery once you've escape the m4. Some of the towns can be a bit run down, but others are little gems. Cracking roads to drive too.

We stayed in pendine holiday park. We thought it was going to be like butlins or pontins but was totally different. We were never on site. Went for the best Sunday roast ever in a pub in abergorlech, went to Tenby, amroth, saundersfoot, Carmarthen, Fishguard, st David's and I went 'home' to Haverfordwest.

Went to an excellent cheese farm, as well as a chocolate and beer one. South west Wales is so under rated. Get away from the tourists and its unreal.

Was that chocolate place on a little farm in the middle of nowhere, with a real creepy kids resort type thing?

Didnt know there was one.  Actually just got back from seeing some friends for a barbecue at the amusingly named Merkin Farm.   Back to the comedy fest tomorrow for Richard Herring.

I've lived in Wales for about half my life.  I spent my whole life until 18 in Swindon, since then I've lived mostly in South Wales (Cardiff) and North Wales (Wrexham) with a brief sojourn in Shropshire.  We have had many camping and caravan trips across the principality.  Clearly I have a vested interest, but take it from me anyway - Wales is a beautiful, wonderful place, and 99% of its people are warm, generous, funny people.  Given the choice, I would always choose the west side of the border.
