Talking of royal mail, it reminded me of something. (apologies if it's already been discussed)

What is with the items being sent in envelopes/boxes that are about 20 times the size of the item(s) inside? My wife ordered a wireless keyboard the other day and it arrived in an envelope that you could feasibly use as a child's sleeping bag, and a toddler rather than a baby.

Amazon? They're notorious for this.

It also used to sell high-quality products but has been invaded by shoddy Chinese goods. And most things I want to buy from there, I go direct to the company/retailer or find it on eBay for cheaper 90% of the time.

Hmm, let us know how this one turns out! Could they put a similar-weight object in the box and claim the courier nicked it - you get your refund and the seller makes a claim via the courier and gets £1500 for posting a small rock or something? I doubt the courier would pay out easily/at all, though

I had two good eBay results lately, and wasn't sure how to act, morally.

First one was a computer game that didn't turn up. Filed for a refund and got it. Around the same time of the refund, I got a Royal Mail card saying there was an item for me with £1.50 unpaid postage. I didn't have a clue what it was but paid the £1.50 to find out. It was the game, so I paid £1.50 for it instead of £40.

Second one was a computer part that also hadn't arrived after about 2 weeks. Filed for a refund and got it, then when I arrived back home the same day, it was sat on my doorstep.
Being an honest person I’m sure you let them know and repaid the refunds.

Is that bad? Was it ever supposed to go to the fund?

Is that bad? Was it ever supposed to go to the fund?

Based on what he wrote on his prologue

“ Capt Sir Tom's autobiography, Tomorrow will be a Good Day, came out in 2020.
He writes in the prologue that "with the offer to write this memoir I have also been given the chance to raise even more money" for his foundation.”

It suggests that’s what he was expecting.

So either he or his family are being a bit economical with the truth.

TBH its why I put it in this thread, the whole thing is just plain odd from beginning to end, starting with an old guy walking around in circles in a garden, becoming a national celebrity, and then his family getting caught up being a bit naughty.

Its such a British story!

In other cultures and countries all the money would have disappeared! Not making excuses if there has been any genuine wrong doing let’s be clear.

It's looking like either my box of bricks is missing or someone at Evri has pinched my bargain! I'm quite gutted as it's looking increasingly like it was genuine and Evri have "lost it".

Tracking shows as routed to wrong depot, Evri keep saying "give it until the next working day" and it's now 2 days overdue and the seller said he can't get anything out of Evri.

I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the seller as I presume getting compensation from Evri doesn't happen. Or I've managed to dodge a scam with Evri providing their legendary service.

It could still turn up, my other half had the dreaded Evri 'routed to other depot' message the other week and after waiting ages the seller agreed to just send the item again. In the end both the original and later order both turned up, the seller just said keep it as they had got cash back from Evri anyway!
