Nice, I fancy having a crack at this. How many apples make how much cider? What do I need to buy and where do I get it? For some reason cider has been my summer drink of choice.

Unless one is on statins that is.  Smiley

Been tempted with grapefruit flavoured ales just to disprove the warnings, but probably not a good idea.

I’m on statins. Still alive.

Statins are medicines that lower your cholesterol. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice affects some statins.

From the NHS website. Do not drink grapefruit juice if you're taking simvastatin. Grapefruit juice increases the level of simvastatin in your blood and makes side effects more likely.

Atorvastatin interacts with grapefruit juice if you drink large quantities (more than 1.2 litres daily), but an occasional glass is thought to be safe.

Currently, healthcare professionals advise it is safe to drink grapefruit juice and eat grapefruit if you're taking other types of statins.

I'm on Atorvastatin so will look to indulge in moderation.

I’m on the same as you. And now Metformin but the latter I hope to ditch in the new year by getting my long term glucose well under 43.

Edit. Turns out Metformin is a turbo charged rocket fuelled laxative in disguise, avoid it at all costs. Been prescribed a slow release version which and I quote ‘Is more expensive than the one you’re currently on’. Like I give a shit, well I clearly did on Sunday, all fucking day. ‘Am I not worth it?’ Yes of of course you are Mr. LL, sent a new prescription to the pharmacy as we speak. Good oh. Keep you posted 😁

In other news, the 2022 vintage Elderberry vino rouge is bubbling away nicely. The 2022 Apple cider likewise. 2022 Pear cider will be in the next few days when I get it all juiced. The American IPA just needs the hops added and then allow it to steep for another week before racking into another barrel for Finning/clearing then into bottles ready mid October.
