It might be my failing eyesight but I'm pretty sure the young fella that sometimes goes to the gym the same time as me has stopped wearing his Oxford shirt and I think was wearing a Chelsea one!

Blimey Chelsea are having a hard time of it, perhaps I should pay more attention to the premiership

Maybe my view is out of date but I find some of the attendances higher up the pyramid surprisingly low. In my head I consider say QPR and Barnsley to be big, fairly well supported sides, though I am pretty sure home games for us against them would yield bigger crowds than they managed. Is it just too expensive? Has I follow had a negative effect?

Oxford probably suffer from basically being a university city, never really well supported. Similar in Bristol, City Rovers (notwithstanding the mem being shit) and Bears should all be getting much bigger crowds.

Oxford are probably also at the ceiling of their capabilities, if anything overperformed for a few years.  Wink

Sheffield United get great crowds considering they have two big clubs and a decent university. You're right about Oxford being at the ceiling of their capabilities, QPR now have to contend with premiership rivals Brentford & Fulham which must hurt and Bristol City are about right averaging around the 20k considering they always languish in the lower half of the league and never achieve anything.

Bristol has a massive population though, must be almost as big as Sheffield, I think 20k is fairly meagre as a proportion. Ashton gate is a really decent stadium as well so that isn’t a problem. They are so lucky to have Lansdown considering the relative apathy the city has for its sports teams.

Bristol City is a strange one considering the population is nearing 500,000, plus the catchment area they have to choose from I:e Weston, Bridgewater, Taunton etc. Maybe it's not a great footballing city like some of the Northern teams.

Don't know what the capacity is at their ground but I suspect that they would sell the place out if they were to make it to the promised land.

It's around 28,000 and no doubts they would sell out if they made it to the premiership.

I doubt there is a ground on the 72 who wouldn’t sell out if they reached the PL Mecca.
