Royal Mail redirection, Ok it costs 21 quick per surname but it saves the hassle of sitting there trying to get hold of your banks, energy suppliers, water suppliers etc etc all on the day of your move.

Lets hope it works

After Ipswich got a draw at Leeds to take them to 4pts off play-offs, a journalist asked Mick McCarthy whether some people might be disappointed with the result. To which McCarthy replied "Some people might be frustrated with that result? Some people can fuck off."

Rang HMRC self-assessment helpline this morning - my call was answered quickly, the automated menu system made sense and was easy to navigate, I was then routed appropriately to a very helpful bloke who answered my query helpfully and with common sense. I think I'm still in shock.

I had to call HMRC about my tax code last week. They had changed my tax code from 0T to 944L in December shortly after starting my new job, but for some reason changed it back in January, leaving me massively short this month. This was infuriating, BUT when I called up, they were brilliant, and re-calculated my tax code (also adding my flat-rate job expenses) immediately. Impressed with that side of their operation.

I've been dealing with the HMRC a lot recently and once you are through to the right person I've found them extremely helpful. If they have the right information they usually get it right and are quick to react. They've been helping me offset pension relief against my child benefit debt.

Fucking hate their website though. More expensive than the Queen. Pointless fact of the day.

Real Time Information is actually one of HMRC's good ideas.

Agreed Si. Relatively simple to administer too. I am surprised they managed to cope with its introduction - thought it would be a nightmare
