Do you have the option of doing one of those speed awareness courses instead of taking the points? I think it'd still count in terms of having to declare it for insurance purposes, but if you get the option, worth keeping the points off the licence

You don't have to declare it for insurance purposes.

In all honesty, even if you get the points insurance companies find it very hard to track points.  There's no physical database they have free access to in order to check.  Where people tend to fall down is by declaring their points some years and not others, hence it flags up.

I should know - it's my job!  I work for a company who offers insurance, but specialises in unusual risk, so we tend to insure a lot of celebrities.  When Katie Price got her well publicised points, there was a bit of a faff before she rang up to declare as we'd have difficulty finding out this information without the media coverage.

Incidentally, I've got most of the Swindon Town's squad past and present on our database...  I've come close to giving out a few mobile numbers this season!!  You'd be shocked at how some of them afford the cars they drive, particularly the younger players.

because cars are an indicator of status, pretty much all pro sportsmen buy ridiculously expensive cars leaving them praying their career takes off to pay for it. i reckon outside of the top two divs of football and the top 5-15 players in all other sports, all sportsmen have got cars/insurance that, if they did the maths, aren't really financially viable but they want them to look good

I saw Phil Smith pull into the car park in a shitty burgundy Fiesta a few months ago, which actually made me smile Smiley

i got a NIP for speeding through my door today when i arrived back from football... From last saturday on the way to saints....whooooops

I'm assuming that would be at end of the A34 as you approach the Winnel roundabout to join the M3? i got busted that morning as well on the way to Saints, 62 in a 50 zone.

What a day that turned out to be.

I'm pretty sure it was a Dodge Nitro. Not too dissimilar to this:

Stuck listening to a teacher explain that Water boils at 100° and freezes at 0° over and over again because some people apparently can't grasp this fact.
