For the third consecutive Sunday on the trot my son's football match has been cancelled after we've all dragged ourselves up early, ventured out in the cold and hung around for 20 minutes while they decided whether to play or not.
Yesterday: the rearranged fixture from before Christmas against one of the strongest sides in the division not being cancelled - all the kids were bloody freezing, so none of them wanted to play, half the team were in tears before half time, and they lost 8-1. Could have been worse, the opposing side won their game 14-1 last week so at least we didn't end up in double figures
versus
Today: slightly warmer and all turned up with a point to prove in today's regular league fixture after yesterday's debacle. After some initial sheepish looks round, they got their heads down, all played really well and won 4-2 (they lost the corresponding away fixture in September 13-1, so all the more satisfying).
So I guess on balance this should be more in the things that made me smile. But I can't be fucked to move it and then the quoting joteddyred's post wouldn't make any sense so sod it.
