I worked in Croydon a couple of weeks ago. Went to watch the Spurs game in a pub with a colleague. On the way there we heard shouting very close to us:
"You fucking bastards. I'll have you, you cunts. Couple of wankers"
It was only when we heard the last bit (which probably wasn't far from the truth, at least in my case) that we realised he was directing his abuse at us. Luckily he didn't pull a knife out or the such and god knows what he thought we'd done. I certainly didn't liberate any coats in Croydon.
Did find a decent pub which did pies and ales and sat next to at least one Swindon fan, judging from his conversation (I didn't introduce myself).
Never stay in the Travelodge in Croydon, it's awful.

They're not always that bad. Unlike Premier Inn they're a bit hit and miss. I don't expect it to be brilliant but a towel without a hole in it and some shower gel wouldn't go amiss.
