The thing worse than getting to 51 years of age is not getting to 51 years of age.
My first proper friend that didn't make it died during the close season. Its going to be weird not seeing him at the CG. Though he will be there sometime during September, the club are phenomenally good in allowing people to be interred as per his wish.
(sorry for the downer )

I fully get what you are saying mate, and never apologise for sharing your thoughts, I guess I was unlucky then as I lost 3 or 4 very close mates, the first who took his own life at 17 and then others to cancer along the way ageing from about 30 to 45, I wish they had all made it to 50. They are always with you. As you well know he will accompany my dad at the County Ground when he is finally laid to rest, he will not be alone.

I'm 47 and yesterday filled out a form with an age bracket to choose my age as "46-65". That rather pissed me off
Haha, same happened to me yesterday. (46) I went on an 18 mile walk on Saturday and I think how achey i was on Sunday was a fast forward of 30 years for me to look forward to! 😀

As I say to my kids all the time, getting old is a pain in the arse, but it's much better than the alternative. I'm trying to silence my inner Victor Meldrew on a daily basis As the tragically short lived Bill Hicks once said "Enjoy it, it's just a ride"

Man you are like so old! I will be 60 in just 6 month, that IS old! Paul Simon wrote A man walks down the street He says, “Why am I soft in the middle now? Why am I soft in the middle? The rest of my life is so hard I prefer to live by the mantra sung by the Specials in "Enjoy Yourself" Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink The years go by, as quickly as you wink Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think
It's good to be wise when you're young 'cause you can only be young but the once Enjoy yourself and have lots of fun So glad and live life longer than you've ever done Never a truer lyric has been sung.

Did you know that was written in 1949. I hope whoever wrote it did. I guess I was unlucky then as I lost 3 or 4 very close mates, the first who took his own life at 17 and then others to cancer along the way ageing from about 30 to 45,
Sorry to read that. I've been 'lucky' in that until now I have known people from school who aren't here but while some were friends then. we'd all moved in different directions.

My Dad has decided that having a son who is retired makes him old He’s 85 this year, and from my wedding day photo with the parents it’s only him & me left

I turned 70 this year. Really don’t give a shit. Apart from quaffing a handful of pills every day for the usual - blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol - I feel pretty good. I have no fear of what’s inevitably to come.
I managed to pretty much retire when I was 48 so I feel I’ve had a fair crack of the whip.
Just hope this fucking club of ours is sorted out before me box.

I know this has been done to death but much as with Morecambe if even a half of the rumours are true about what’s going on in the background and the whole graveyard of skeletons apparently lurking I fear our only hope is going to be someone with cash and little interest in due diligence (so Mike Ashley at Newcastle but hopefully not him) or someone with limited clue and cash who thinks they can pick the place up for a song and benefit from it (so another Morfuni/McCrory character).

Which make me think he will get out before, or he'll lose 'his' 'millions'

Toilet seats. We've gone backwards.
Almost all new units are top-fixing - meaning that when the seat starts to come loose, you're really limited in terms of what you can do to tighten it up. The fixings are hidden away and difficult to get to. Older set ups were bottom-fixing and the fixings were easily accessible. Very annoying.
