This is pointless advice now but save your money. Qatar was probably the most forgettable place we've ever been.

Not sure I get why people go to Dubai either.

Cyprus wouldn’t be top of my holiday destinations at the moment.

Love the place Jim. Wouldn’t stop me going there, if fact we’ve been looking at going back in October.

Stop moaning, Xi's doing his best.

Yep. He certainly is. Cleansing HK of all British HK Chinese as well, infact anyone who merely critiques the communist regime.

Thanks, but it's not a holiday, it's a work trip.

Ah fair enough. 😀

Also ive realised how pathetic my comment regarding Dubai was. Everyone is different and of course places will have different appeals.

Another place that I wouldn't have wanted to visit previously was China, but starting to watch Race Around the world, some of the rural areas are absolutely stunning. I'm not sure the big cities appeal but somewhere more off the beaten track looks like it could be tremendous.

Lovely country and it seems safe at the moment for westerners to travel there even there’s many photos of tracer fire at night in the distance.

I guess if Israel’s big brother gets involved you won’t have an option of travelling it just depends on what happens next in this meaningless conflict.

I was out there helping airlifting people out when it all took off between Greece and Turkey in the 70s.

Not pleasant then.

I know an expat who lives and teaches in China. They absolutely love it there. Also have family who did some of China and Taiwan a few years ago - pre covid. They had an incredible time. I'll try and find out a smidge more info but I know they went and visited some tea plantations, possibly Jingmaoy/mai??

I *think* that could have been where one of the couples went, the rea plantations did look pretty amazing.

You haven't got caught have you? Should be treated as trading while insolvent!

Are you in the US now, or was that someone else? I think most UK travel insurance covers airline failure thankfully. But the hassle factor and no doubt extra cost of rebooking is annoying.

Pre booking for flights from Key West to Tampa. Timings were important as we needed to get to Tampa in time for a Bucaneers game.

We have found replacements at twice the original cost. Airlines are cashing in on the demose of one of their own.

Glad you found replacements but that sucks. Arlines are vultures.

Christ, it’s all coming out now re the Grooming Gangs scandal.

Whitehall officials tried to convince Michael Gove to go to court to cover up the grooming scandal in 2011, Sky News can reveal.
Dominic Cummings, who was working for Lord Gove at the time, has told Sky News that officials in the Department for Education (DfE) wanted to help efforts by Rotherham Council stop a national newspaper from exposing the scandal.
In an interview with Sky News, Mr Cummings said that officials wanted a "total cover-up".
The revelation shines a light on the institutional reluctance of some key officials in central government to publicly highlight the grooming gang scandal.

In 2011, Rotherham Council approached the Department for Education asking for help following inquiries by The Times. The paper's then chief reporter, the late Andrew Norfolk, was asking about sexual abuse and trafficking of children in Rotherham.
The council went to Lord Gove's Department for Education for help. Officials considered the request and then recommended to Lord Gove's office that the minister back a judicial review which might, if successful, stop The Times publishing the story.
Lord Gove rejected the request on the advice of Mr Cummings. Sources have independently confirmed Mr Cummings' account.
