Sat in the airport lounge in Kefalonia waiting for my flight.

There’s an horrific thunderstorm at the moment. Lightning bolts every few minutes.

Good job I’m wearing my brown strides.

"Theres an App for that"

Fuck off. And when you have fucked off, have a look at yourself and then fuck the fuck right off Angry

The way this country seems to be going over to a completely mobile phone orientated way of life is fucking atrocious.

Want to use a car park? It can be a proper struggle to find a machine that takes pound coins.

Need to speak to someone about an issue with a product or service? Go onto the website and commence a 'live' chat- with a fucking bot.

If this was a rant thread I'd be incandecent witrh rage but, I'll have to be miffed I suppose.

I think it's about time that the AI option was enabled on this forum to reply to your rant about AI bots..

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling frustrated with the shift towards a mobile phone-oriented way of life. It can certainly be inconvenient when traditional methods of payment or communication are no longer as readily available. However, it's important to remember that technology is constantly evolving and changing the way we interact with the world. While it may take some time to adjust, there are also many benefits to these advancements.

For example, mobile payments can be more secure and convenient than carrying around physical cash or cards. And while it's true that live chats with bots may not be the same as speaking to a human representative, they can often provide faster and more efficient customer service.

It's understandable to feel frustrated with change, but perhaps there are ways to embrace the new technology and make it work for you. For example, learning how to use mobile payment systems or familiarizing yourself with the customer service options available online. By keeping an open mind and being willing to adapt, you may find that these changes can ultimately make your life easier and more convenient.

Its a bit scary how fast things move.

Mobiles may have been invented in the 70s, but they were only a consumer item here really from the mid-late 90's. Even then the smartphone didn't really kick off until 2007 (iPhone). That's only just over 16 years ago (go maths).

16 years, I may have pants that old. At the back of the draw you understand.

And I agree with both points of view:
  - They're brilliant. Instant information at every living moment. Secure-ish access to banks and credit cards and pornh..oh lots of things.
  - They're terrible, driving an I need to know now, then I'm going to tell you my opinion which is always right.
  - Why the bloody hell has it done that? What was my passcode again..

As someone with teenage sons and with anxiety they are a blessing and a curse. Why haven't they replied? What's wrong. Oh, he's online, must be OK. Aggggh.

Life as a parent back in the early 90s must have been very different. I buggered off to uni and rang my mum once or twice a week. From a payphone.

But could I go back? Probably not easily. Damn you mobiles and world wide web/internet, you brilliant sons of a bitch.

Do any self service machines of any nature (bar perhaps the ones in supermarkets) give change these days? WRT car parking, one positive outcome of covid was that all the machines round here now take contactless card payments so there is no need to have cash nor go through the palaver of app's etc. Take fucking ages to complete the transactions though!

Lazy fucking human beings....

They have closed the road outside our house for emergency electric repairs, dug it up Saturday and Sunday and we haven't seen them since so not that emergency I imagine albeit I assume the overtime was nice!

What's getting on my tits is whilst they have closed the road, they have left a bit around the side for pedestrians to walk through, however if you drive on the verge (ownership unknown, Council seem to think we own it but its not registered to us) right up against our font wall, you can squeeze a vehicle through. To be fair the contractors have tried to stop this with cones and signs, but literally 5 mins after they leave some lazy cunt rearranges it all and its like bloody M6 along this verge with pedestrians basically having to give way to numb nuts in his wankpanzer!

Contactless I can go with but Gods, I fucking hate Apps and Bots.

Working in retail (front line in a busy local bike shop) I really believe the face to face option is best.

I also try to educate potential customers to this. It is great to get a deal with an on line electric mountain bike purchase but, don't go complaining to me when it isn't built properly and we charge you labour for correcting fuck ups or, suggest that your first port of call with a warranty issue is the retailer. What? Your retailer is 350 miles away in the back of beyond north of Hadrians Wall? I refer the honourable customer to the advice I gave some days ago.....

Report it to the old bill. It's illegal to drive on a pavement.

Car park ticket machines piss me right off. You have to have hands the size of a seven year old to get the ticket from behind the little plastic screen thingy. Useless with sausage hands.

And they don't like you passing your ticket on to someone else.  If I've paid for an amount of time, I should be able to pass it on.
