Not neccecelary. In the U.S. on some sentencing hearings, the convicted get given a date and time to present themselves at the local penitentiary to start their jail time.

And has a cash bond system, so you can (better off people) pay your way to a bit of freedom.

Someone is making an offer on my house without visiting and viewing it.
Is there a possible scam incoming?

I bought my current house without an in-person viewing. It was during lockdown so we couldn't easily travel to view, we saw a full WhatsApp tour and had a house report done by a professional. So probably be on your guard about it, but it's not completely lunatic if the buyer lives a long way away.

Not sure how the process works in Greece. If someone makes an offer in Scotland they are bound by contract. Different again in the UK.

Once an offer is made buyer must put down 10% deposit. A pre contract is drawn up. If the buyer pulls out he loses the deposit. If the seller pulls out he must pay the buyer twice the deposit.
Strangely, deposit monies are not paid to a solicitor to hold but direct to the seller.
Very unnerving.

Where are they based, if they are local I would be suspicious, if overseas for instance, less so.

Says he’s Greek and was born in Kefalonia. He’s discussing it with his siblings and will make an offer. Just sounds weird.

There is the possibility that he knows the area and the type of property that you are selling but from his perspective it's still risky if he doesn't view before purchasing unless he's super wealthy.

...was via Facebook Marketplace.
House Selling + Assbook Market = That's like putting your wife on Craigslist and expecting you both to not end up dead! FBM is for things like Halogen Cookers and reclaimed wood, not feckin house sales. I'd stay well clear Aud x

I sold my rental on Facebook and I bought the house I’m trying to sell the same way.
It’s really a specific Kefalonia group. Don’t fancy coughing up €8000 to a useless estate agent.
