FH - my mum used to refer to those as "twinges when you get older". I know what she meant but I ignore the fuckers. I'm not getting older. Although my right knee is a bastard first thing in the morning. I put it down to sleeping in a 45 degree hammock upside down.

Good to see that nobody really disagreed with my take on third wave feminism. Yeah, good luck "ladies" let's see where you are in twenty years time. Covered in cat fur.

Anyway, looking forward to Saturday afternoon, I might not understand it and it will probably annoy me but I will have a bloody ace time and enjoy the company and the beers whatever  Beers

The term 'Let's just agree to disagree'.

What a pointless phrase. Of course we disagree, we've been arguing about it for the last two fucking hours. Of course we fucking disagree. What is the alternative? That we should agree to agree? No, of course not, that's fucking ridiculous because we clearly do not fucking agree you dribbling fool.

The last bit sounded less like an argument, and more like abuse.

I've had a pain in my knee for a couple of months now.
Playing football it's OK for the most part, I can run around, I play 3 times a week, but walking up and downstairs is really painful.

Just do the walking up or the walking down bit and not both at once?

Which was the attended affect.

To paraphrase whomever it was that first said it: 'Stupidity is like death, when you're stupid you don't know you're stupid. It's only those that know you're stupid that suffer" - It's the same with death

Nice quote. I was just going for a little Monty Python reference.😊

Because when people talk such obvious blinkered shit, arguing with it is akin to explaining existentialism to a bacterium.
Sort of like "don't feed the trolls" but more closely related to "pissing in the wind"

To take sport as an analogy here, if two protagonists engage in a contest, for example a chess match then both accept they may lose, however painful.

However with a polemical position, you need to establish fairly swiftly, that the argument held has the possibilty of being directed at an open mind. Sadly too often it's not, so the process becomes pointless.

Quite true Reg.

I hold quite a few controversial opinions and I enjoy debating them with people who oppose them. Too many people just surround themselves with those who agree with them and that is not a way to become informed about anything, only to reinforce what you already believe.

However, opening a dialogue with someone on the 'other side' as it were requires not only an open mind but a mutual level of respect. You can get the "wah hairy cat lady" spiel off a school kid. That's not edifying, it's a waste of time for everyone.

Indeed, the only thing I've ever known is paradoxically I know fuck all....especially when it comes to women.

In Reading for a gig tonight.
An impressive array of beggars on show, on a par with Sheffield and Manchester.
Not convinced that the ones with the cute dogs & fags are genuine though.
If passers by are prepared to pay up then what can you do.

Where did you go?

Gotta say I've not really noticed many around Reading but I don't head in to the centre too much. It's a bloody expensive place to live and it's not getting cheaper any time soon
