It's quite unlikely to be an isolated case either, as if it wasn't already shocking enough.

There's loads that's annoying about that story.

For instance, why haven't the bodies been removed, an investigation conducted and people bought to task?! Why are they just sealing the septic tank and having a kind of pathetic memorial? How is that acceptable? Why is everyone seemingly letting it go?

Apparently they're "raising funds" to build a fitting memorial. What?! The catholic church is rich enough to build each child their own fucking pyramid, so do something fitting for fucks sake you greedy cunts. They should each have their own grave and it should be in the open so the Catholic Church and Ireland can be reminded forever more.

How the death of 800 children is swept under the rug so easily is mystifying. And that cunt, Father Fintan Monaghan's quote:

Quote from: Father Fintan Monaghan
I suppose we can't really judge the past from our point of view, from our lens. All we can do is mark it appropriately and make sure there is a suitable place here where people can come and remember the babies that died.

I refrain from approaching these matters on the TEF because there are some that get a bit touchy where other peoples' fairy tail beliefs are concerned. I disagree that we should be sensitive to those believes but I can't be bothered with the butthurt. I have joined theological debates elsewhere instead.

Anyway. I have been involved in debates in this topic elsewhere.

It is so repulsive that so many followers of the church choose to make excuses for what happened. The father you quoted making excuses is not an isolated case. Ask many (not all) Catholics about it and they will shy away because for them divorce is still a sin

To be fair, I also refrain, however, this has made me want to voice some of my anger in the only place I really write anything online.

And I get what you're saying about others shying away. I had a girlfriend about 7 years ago who was catholic, not practicing, but her Mum and Dad were Irish and she went to a proper catholic school with nuns and shit.

She was not religious per se (read:anymore), but her indoctrination had properly fucked her up, I'd argue permanently. I can't imagine the shit that's gone on in the past in cases like the above, and also how hard people had been indoctrinated to allow stuff like that to be acceptable.

Very strange why this has only surfaced in a newspaper article and has not been picked up by TV.

Are we talking murder here or, and I hate to use the word just, an abomination.

There's been acres of coverage here regarding Savill and that fat slug Cyril Smith et al regarding historical abuse - what can be worse than bodies.

Except, maybe, the total shoulder shrugging and the 'Ah well, 'twas a different time' attitude.

According to the article it was 1975 when it was first discovered & sealed over. 2 boys found it while playing, imagine how fucked up that must made them finding the skeletons of nearly 800 children.

That truly doesn't bear thinking about. Traumatized must be too soft a word.

I failed an exam by TWO marks out of 160.

That's the first exam I've ever failed.
