You watch the footage and it's amazing the amount of things you don't see whilst driving.
Have you not got a telly? There's some great programmes on if you find yourself with time on your hands Smiley

I know some of you take the piss

I know some of you take the piss, but I would highly recommend getting a dash cam. You can a HD one for around £30 now. You watch the footage and it's amazing the amount of things you don't see whilst driving. With insurance now being under scrutiny, and no-one takes the blame if you have a dash cam you are 'covered'. Even police use footage of evidence.

I want one and think they're a great idea. I despise most road users. Some of the driving is atrocious and I'm becoming increasingly worried about some prick twatting my car.

Your attempt at humour is tedious.

Dicking about aside, I think it's a good idea. We've endured a year of waiting for a car insurance resolution. A dash cam could have helped.

Coppers don't help matters by speeding themselves and not bothering to indicate. Driving standards are diobolical and morons just get away with driving dangerously. Fatalities are on the rise and the roads are overcrowded. Get the shit drivers off the road, permanently! Life bans, not the measly point system that allows bad drivers to tot them up before getting banned for a ridiculously short period of time

It's a well known fact (To me) that all drivers, apart from one, are shit and clueless. The roads would be a better place if everyone (With the exception of myself) stayed off them.

There's actually a nugget of truth in that- the road system is simply overcrowded. Too many cars and not enough space at vital points.

I think Dash Cams are a good idea on the modern road network and if they reduce your insurance all the better. Cyclists should think about them (or a GoPro or similar) too on a slightly related note. Would save a lot of hearsay and bending of the truth when it comes to accidents.

Perhaps cams should be installed on cars as a matter of course now?

I think there's many positives, but making them mandatory would set a dangerous precedent I imagine. It could certainly give rise to any number of unsavoury big brother actions taken in our best interests.

They won't need to. Get the insurance companies to start offering discounts for cars with them fitted, then we'll all be falling over ourselves to get them and the manufacturers will respond by fitting them as standard. Voila, self-monitoring population, all voluntarily done with no compulsion necessary.  Big Brother's got nothing on market forces

Certain insurance companies do offer a 15% discount.

But I didn't get mine because of the discount, I got mine because of the standard of driving and the 'where's theres a blame..' culture.

Spending a large proportion of my working day on the roads, I see some shocking driving. My absolute number one main gripe is peoples inability to read the road ahead. Approaching roundabouts that are clearly empty but still stopping, poor lane discipline, waiting til thr last minute to get in the right lane for the roundabout, that kinda thing really pisses me off.

Oh and the right hand lane of wooton basset road at the lights by the bmw garage as you head towards the bridge. Everyone is waiting, why the fuck should you be able to drive from waaaaaay back down the queue right up to the front, especially if the lights are green? Most of the time I'll shift over to occupy both lanes if we're moving and someone tries it.

Oh and the driver of the dark coloured mk1 ford focus who drives down from old town past the magic roundabout and down past greenbridge who's going as fast as he possibly can, he's a regular and I see him nearly cause an accident every time. He does the usual drakes way greenbridge roundabout trick of trying to go straight on from the left hand lane. Fucks me right off.
It's a filter lane, it's what it's for, not my problem people don't know the road layout. I use it everyday and chuckle at the people waiting. Haha.

Bitcoin. I'm not sure what is more annoying, the fact it has 'value' doesn't make any sense as its nearly useless. Or the fact regardless that they were trading for $1000 each and not having the foresight to see that when they cost pennies.
