Two people fucking in the car park at the Swindon Mail Centre when I got to work this afternoon. Not even subtle about it, makes me laugh but its pretty fucking rank. They work here as well.

Rank it may be.  But they certainly had a more interesting lunch break than I did today.

People who lob rubbish out of their car windows.....cycled along the Roman Road near Durocornovium through Wanborough earlier....lovely route, especially when hitting the top of Callas Hill along to Foxhill, the verges neatly trimmed by SBC, but strewn everywhere with aluminium cans ( Wink SY) plastic bottles etc and ironically in one place a rubbish bin. Why is it so difficult to take it home and use the domestic refuse system....it just ruins the landscape.

To make matters worse...turning right by the Burj, by our soon to be former excellent training facility, the roadside verge acts as a link for the Ridgeway Path, a National Trail....this is a sadly necessarily shit bit, made much worse by walkers having to walk through debris and detritus....

Up by the the turn to Liddington Hill, I met 2 very fit birds from Canada, who were walking the Ridgeway, fucking embarrassed by the thought of how they'll regard my car driving fellow citizens.

It's the neatly trimmed verges that bug me, Reg. There's not much countryside left in this country, so why councils insist on wiping out habitat for plants and wildlife in the only places not covered in concrete or pesticide, is beyond me.

It's an interesting point..I suspect it's to do with H and S, namely things can get a bit out of control if left. But, yes you're right verges are a nature resource, that should be cared for.

You're probably correct. I understand why they need to be cut near junctions and roundabouts, but not cutting every verge to an inch of their life.

Unfortunately the main culprits in ecodamage of the countryside are farmers...a few years back the situation seemed better becasue they were paid to leave some bits to develop naturally, but I'm not sure it happens anymore.

Set-aside is voluntary these days, payments ended in 2008 I believe.

More than mildly annoying, but someone has crashed up the side of my car, ruining every panel, and taking the drivers door handle off meaning I have to climb over to get anywhere. Of course, they didn't leave any details and it'll cost me my £300 excess and all my no claims. Fucking bastards.

If it happened in a public place have you tried to see if there's any CCTV?

Stating the obvious, but don't forget to get a crime number if you haven't already done so.

Don't imagine you'd lose your no claims bonus if you claim from the Motor Insurers' Bureau (but I think they also apply a £300.00 excess and you'd probably have to put your hand in your pocket for the full cost of repairs and claim the difference back - unless you were happy to wait 6 months whilst they investigate).
