I've always been interested in trying to decide the relative impact of developments in art/music/literature/architecture of teh Baroque, on the various sections of society at the time.

For example, I'm a big fan of George Freidrich Handel, but there must have been only a tiny % of people living in England who ever heard his work...definitely an elite.

And he was considered a populist for abandoning Italian opera in favour of English language oratorio's!

I've often wondered how many potentially brilliant artistic/ musical/ literary minds must have been lost unknown to time due to never getting the chance to experience/ create those forms of culture.

We are incredibly fortunate to live in an era where there is such easy accessibility to art/ music/ literature and your ability to distribute it. And yet paradoxically, has there ever been a shitter artistic/ musical/ literary decade than the 2000s?

 Hmmm

Absolutely, and we can easily access a vast oeuvre of fantastic work. This of course brings its own problems, of where exactly do you start. The sheer volume of possibilities, tends to mean people, just switch off as a sort of defence mechanism.

Why do people always think that Wigan Athletic can magically conjure up supporters?

Small club, rugby town, sugar daddy. End.

Also, Wigan Athletic vs. Millwall in an F.A. Cup Semi Final? Brilliant.

If Wigan suddenly starting getting 25k-30k every week the same people would accuse their fan base of being glory hunters.

They are a small team, nothing wrong with that

I think Wigan played Millwall in a Skoda Hub Cap, a few years back...Millwall had 47,000, Wigan about 8,000. Latics still won mind.

Precisely, fan size can often mean diddly-squat.
