It's funny. I had my car "broken in to" a few years back (I didn't lock it) and when I got into the car the next day, despite it being obvious everything was missing, it didn't really register what had happened. I wonder if you have a similar lack of realisation Samdy?

Yep, very similar. Went out to the car, pressed the key fob to unlock it but nothing happened. Thought "Meh, must already be unlocked". Got in, saw the glovebox was open and my CDs were on the passenger seat, thought it a little odd but the realisation didn't kick in straight away. Went back indoors to ask the wife if she'd been in my car, to which she said no, then it dawned on me what had really happened.

What they took doesn't really bother me because it has little value. They'd looked in the boot too because it wasn't closed back down properly; there was a trolley jack in there plus a pushchair and a baby swing that are worth far much more than what they took.

I'm very thankful they didn't check the seat pockets in the car, because I've been keeping hold of a backup HDD for work for the last few weeks. Could've been in a whole world of shit if that disappeared.

Just had a chat with my Nan

My sister is my sister but....... My Nan bought a toy for sister's daughter (my niece). My niece loved it.  On hearing the toy came from a charity shop my sister refused to take it home... because it came from a charity shop. For no other reason than snobbery.

There are no words to elucidate my disappointment.

I'm surprised about this especially in your cul de sac.

Fucking hell Sam, if that'd gone then r06 wouldn't have mattered a great deal would it.

But still thought your area was alright. They'd still have to try to find out the car is unlocked...

Interesting one this. Was the toy in good nick do you know? My mother in law spends a great deal of time at car boot sales and regularly buys stuff for my two from them, clothes, toys and various other bits.  Some of the stuff is literally brand new or good condition and I have no issue with that if the boys like it.  However some items have been tatty and effectively fit for the bin, so I've refused them or put them in the bin a few weeks later.  I suppose that makes me a bit of a snob?

Not at all, hence me asking in the first sentence whether the toy was in good nick?  As you've now confirmed it was, I agree it's unnecessary snobbery and I imagine your nan was quite hurt?

The girlfriend taking up nearly all the closet/drawer/under bed space with her clothes and shoes, forcing me to put some of my clothes on the floor, out of the way, on my side of the bed.

She then moaned at me for keeping my clean clothes on the floor.

You can't win can you?

Of course not, She (presumably) is a woman and therefore any notion you had of winning an argument is rendered obsolete

Crikey how did you manage to have arguments in empty rooms before the internet? Someone takes an interest in your little crisis and you jump down her throat.
