Make sure you don't make more than a £1000 in interest otherwise you will have to pay tax back next year.

When i had to remortgage in April, I thought it was the worst time possible, as it turns out it was pretty much the best time this year as it was just as the rate of inflation dropped slightly, so therefore the deals available were dropping significantly.  When I started the conversation we were talking about 4.2% but by the time we reached the switch date I managed to get 3.7% on a 5 year fixed.

Yes my payments went up massively and yes I was worried that a 5 year deal was a risk - with current events though I can see that i got about the best deal available, and a 5 year fixed was definitely the way to go because predictions are that the current type of levels will go on until at least 2025.

Fair play - we did 2 years at 4.7% (wish I had done 3 now really). It's now going to be a tougher watch on the rates than I had initially anticipated. What goes up, surely must come down (but when is the question)

August '21 I fixed @1.19% for 5 years. Kicking myself for not getting the 1.29% for 10 year option.

Everything is easier with hindsight.

Absolutely. I'm half way through a five year, but I can't say it was any economic wisdom that persuaded me to go with five rather than two or three, just a bit of risk aversion. There must be a better way to structure the mortgage market than basically making it pure luck as to when your deal comes up - it means changes like this are ruinous to a percentage and a non-issue to others.

Maybe the answer is not to allow fixed rates, I don't know. Would be brutal though.

Fair play - that's a tremendous deal.

Yep - 10 years is too risky for me, and I think the last 10 years has proved that

I remember paying in excess of 10% on my mortgage. It was many years ago but still hurt like fuck.

When we tried to rent it out for a few months after I moved for work, the letting agents set the rent at less than the mortgage payments and said that was the going rate and we wouldnt get more.

Hope all went well.

I have the same next Wednesday.
It's actually a sigmoidoscopy, which is a "colonoscopy lite" from what I can gather.
I have to have an enema, which i've never had before, but it has to be better than the gallons of disgusting laxative you have to drink!

Having had both, yes it is (in my opinion)

When I had my first of 3 colonoscopies the Moviprep was so fucking lubricating I am sure I found a weeble and a stickle brick I had forgotten eating when I was 4. Damn that stuff is potent.

As with most of these ‘’scopy’ things the actual procedure was nowhere near as bad as imagined. The gas they pump in to expand the colon was uncomfortable - like a bad tummy ache for a short while. Had a few polyps removed which have been sent off for a closer look.

I was looking at instant access, unlimited withdrawal.

seems you can get about 4%, might be only for a year. it's not bad
Have a look at RCI Bank. I’ve been with them for a few years. They put savings rates up as soon as the BoE do. No penalty withdrawing, instant access. Just under 4% now.

They don’t call it Moviprep for nothing! Moved every damn thing. Far and away the worst part of the entire procedure.
