I need a mix.  3 at home. 2 in office = perfect.  75% of my company agreed a hybrid was the way forward in a survey.
I'm quite happy WFH but I don't think it's necessarily that viable long term, so 3/2 split in favour of WFH would suit me too, or even 4/1. Certainly don't miss pointlessly schlepping about for an hour or more each day, wasted time that could be far better spent. I was freelance for a while in my 20s and worked from home pretty much full time then and found it very isolating so if you'd asked me at the start of all this, I'd have said I didn't think I could do more than a couple of months WFH full time whereas actually I've found it OK. There's some downsides - not switching off is a problem (which was also a problem when I was freelance), but the family acts as a bit of a brake on that.

But I can see a lot of companiess ditching premisis over the next few years and a permanent change in working practices. Downsize offices, come in on rotation.

I think we'll  both gain and lose something doing that.

Yeah I think something similar or maybe 3 office 2 home one week and then 2 office 3 home the week after etc.

Interesting point about the premises. My work is in Canary Wharf which is probably horrendously expensive to rent so you would think the company might look to relocate to somewhere smaller and cheaper. That said, I know the 'prestige' of having a site there is important for clients etc and its going about a huge renovation of the offices currently.

The fact that this was released 25 years ago today and thus I am getting old rather annoys me...

I think people in the world of property management are likely very twitchy right now, not just offices, but retail and restaurants as well.

Personally, WFH was made for me, but it won;t be for everyone.  It takes a lot to shift behaviour and at first I thought this would be a short lived change and we'd all revert back to normal.  The fact it has now continued for many months makes we think we might be reaching a tipping point.  Enough bean counters will be seeing the improved P&L's, some will be seeing Assets they should think about realising pretty quickly unless commercial property prices do shrink as demand reduces and employees are beginning to see that commuting is not necessary.  It's not fr everyone, and it may not be for every time, but if companies start to see this as a way of getting some shareholder value as well, you can bet things will change for good.

Those who were not organised may be, plenty that knew this was coming are already getting their ducks in a row.

In the UK we have the bonus of the changes to Use Classes and PD coming on Tuesday (JR's permitting) going to lead to huge changes on the high street and basically take away from local authority control many changes of use between retail/cafe/commercial/leisure etc uses.

As a counter balance I fucking love working from home. Hopefully will be doing it forever now.

A mix for me would be ideal too. Unfortunately not an option for me. I'm in the process of looking for a place of my own and i think once i have somewhere and i can set up dedicated office space away from distractions i'll be ok.

That George (Grand Designs) bloke. I always feel like he's fighting his accent. Which is quite an irony considering he's an Architect too.

indeed.

the argument is that he missed the deadline to invoke the free transfer.

you'd think that was  clear cut. no doubt once the lawyers get involved it'll drag out while Messi plays golf - if he doesn't change his mind

To me it's just purposefully generated. Rather like Wayne Rooney's last few years at Manchester Utd. Say that they want to leave etc. Then eventually the club meets the wage demands of the player because even though no player is bigger than a team, some are integral to the performance of it.

It's win/win for the player regardless. He'll either get a pay rise out of Barcelona or obtain it elsewhere. I think he'll end up staying though, no matter how Messi is gets.

Odds on to join Man City (https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/lionel-messi/club-after-summer-transfer-window)

Personally think he'll stay and do agree with Bamboo in so far as it's another Rooney-Esque saga to generate even more money.
