He knows he'd be sleeping in the shed if he ever bats for the other side (Oxford that is, if he likes boys then I'll be more understanding).
Couple of years back when Man U played Barca in the Champions League final, my missus rather unwisely promised Joe that: a) he could watch it b) she's buy him a Barca shirt to wear while watching it She then left it till the day before to take him to JJB to buy said shirt. Of course, they had none left in his size (or indeed any kids' size). The conversation then went "That's OK, I'll have a Man U shirt instead". "You can if you want but your Dad won't let you in the house with it". (nervous laugh) "No but really Mum I'd like a Man U shirt instead". "No really, he won't, I'm not joking". He now knows better than to ask, after a few similar conversations about where else he might think he's going to live. It's never too early to teach your kids quite how petty you can be about these things.

no matter how much we want our kids to follow the same team as us,they will nearly always be attracted to the premiership teams too.

Disagree, my old man mugged me into supporting us, and I'll bloody well make sure my kids suffer like I have.

Probably right, although I had a proud moment with my youngest recently. Both of them were mad for the World Cup Match Attax over the summer, so when the new ones came out for the new season, the missus bought them both the starter pack thing (album and a few packs of cards). Joe was dead chuffed, but Tom just looked at it. Was just working myself up for the "ingratitude" lecture when he comes out with "But I support England and Swindon, I'm not interested in these teams." Proper proud. The missus says I've created a monster

i drummed stfc into my lad and took him from the age of 3.his head was turned by the brilliance of thierry henry though. many kids follow the town and have have fav prem teams too.i think that's ok as they'll grow out of the prem club stage eventually.

Nah, he's a good kid Tom. And he can play football a bit too. In fact I've often wondered about asking for a DNA test

He's a bit OCD, tbh. Likes to replay recent Town games on FIFA on the Wii and turn draws/defeats into crushing victories (for us) so he can set right the wrong done on the pitch

Good lad and good dad for bringing him up properly. Do you have a good old sing song as well - "We'll never be mastered....................."

Embarrassingly, I've actually had to have a "Just keep it at the football, son" talk with him about not chanting (and abusing the ref) while playing FIFA on the Wii after the missus complained. This was around the time the "You've created a monster" theme began to be introduced
