People who wrap their dog shit in little plastic bags, and then tie it to a tree/bush or something similar, rather than depositing appropriately. What do these mongs think happens...the dog shit fairy comes and takes it away.
Yes...well done you've picked it up...it will now fester there for the next 100 years.
I have also never understood this.

What I find funny is a bunch of parents marching across the pitch to abuse a ref because their precious children lost a game of football. Everything that is wrong with grass roots football.
From the original post it seems like the ref was from the opposing club (not uncommon at that level) and that he deliberately favoured his own side, overlooked foul play on their part, and went out of his way to ruin the game in pursuit of a result for his team. That IS everything that is wrong with grassroots kids football, and why a lot of youth teams end up composed of big quick bruisers with little skill. The attitudes of some of the people on here fit right in with it. Fuck me I hope none of you have kids.

AFAIK, for North Wilts leagues the refs are supplied by the local FA. Linesmen are usually one from each club, which normally results in a few very dubious decisions.

Having played and then later on ref'd at that level, yes, it is very true. Had a pitch invasion once, where the parents disagreed with an offside call. As a kid I hated it so only ever played a couple of games before deciding not to bother. On a personal level, playing "proper" games pre 11/12 is pointless anyway. Too much focus on the tactical side (including winning) and far too little on the technical side.

not at u10 level. For a start there are no linesman, and no offsides. It's usually the home club that supplies the referee. We only got allocated officials for the cup semi and final.

Oh and some of the parents of the team that finished runners up in our u9 league were overheard threatening a pitch invasion if they beat us in one particular post season tournament final.
Some parents take it a bit far.

I'd extend that until about age 13/14. In fact, I'm still unsure if playing games of any sort really help their development. I suppose it depends on why the games are played - if it is about coaching and developing talent, I doubt it does much good at all. I wasn't up to a decent standard, but it took me until about age 14 before I started to really understand game play, positional sense etc. I then learned technical stuff way to late for it to be of any use for me. The problem for me seems to be that we cannot reconcile kids learning football if it's not playing what we see in the adult game. Back to parents, it is the same in many other kids pursuits, not just the football. Having had a child go through dance schools, you get a very different but equally irritating set of behaviours from the parents.

When we are U11s next season and it goes from 7 a side to 9 a side and the offside rul comes into play that is the case. The home team has to supply a ref for U7s-U10s matches, so it generally ends up being one of the dads. The chap today arrived and left on his own and apparently has something to do with the overall running of the club rather than being a parent of one of the boys playing. And to date, I haven't really seen any ott behaviour from parents and in fairness today's incident could have easily caused that. However, I've heard plenty of stories from friends with older children where things have got quite nasty on the sidelines.
