I don't understand that at all and I don't buy it tbh - I said exactly the same about Lance Armstrong althought the context is very different.
If you KNOW you are innocent why would you plead guilty? Forget limiting the damage, burdon of proof etc. I just don't belive that.
It's a gamble - surely you of all people would get that?

I ask you then, Mr D, if you were thinking of your children, why would you willingly consign yourself to prison for something you didn't do?
Perhaps my post wasn't very clear - he was told if he copped a plea he WOULDN'T do time, that's why he went for that option (according to his missus on the radio this morning)

The thing is, he actually is guilty of having a gun he wasn't supposed to have. Or have I missed something?
The sentence was a touch on the harsh side though.

Quite a bit of mitigation: 1) He didn't bring the gun back personally, it was shipped back along with his operational military gear from Iraq by colleagues 2) Even when it did come back, it was stored along with the rest of his operational gear on base in a "crashpad" house he used along with a colleague. It's not like it was in the house he lived in with his family. 3) The police investigated and decided no crime had been committed. It was the military authorities who decided to prosecute. Have to be honest, I'm not convinced there isn't more to this myself, certainly seems like someone has to have had some kind of axe to grind or ulterior motive to prosecute (as opposed to just disciplining) the bloke. But on the face of the facts as presented, it does seem to be a massive injustice

this doesnt annoy me, but i dont understand how these odds are worked out 2 Div German League Teams:Dynamo Dresden vs FSV Frankfurt League Position: 15th 6th Last 5 Games: LLLLL LWLWL Odds to win 2.18 3.60
How does that work? I know frankfurt are playing away, but that doesnt make sense to me. Now i've posted that, Dynamo dresden will probably win an i'll look silly

Right, cheers.

Really disillusioned with my uni course at the moment. Bosnia never features in the language classes, no Bosnian writers in the literature course and now I can't go to Bosnia on my year abroad. I don't want to go to Croatia or Serbia, I have no allegiance/connection to these countries, may as well send me to Sierra Leone.
