I wish I had seen this earlier - I paid £28.90 for mine, because I saw this "group save exceptions calendar" posted online earlier:

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/groupsave_calendar.html

I think a lot of people who has bought group savers are going to be disappointed, because you can bet the guards will be under orders to fine people who travel on trains before the 13.30 time with groupsaver tickets.

Normally, yes, but it looks like there are exceptions. That document is from the National Rail site and it says groupsave is NOT available between Swindon and Paddington on 29th up to 13.30, like there is between South Wales and Paddington on Saturday for the Championship play-off.

I used to organise rail travel for work, and I know of instances that people didn't have the right ticket, and they would fine them on the spot.

I don't agree with it as they totally rip-off the people who go on the peak service between Swindon and London.

right then, no time like the present and dont wanna get charged a tenner for getting these refunded!!.....so who wants me 8 x £11.50 groupsavers from hungerford?

leave car at hungerford and just stay on train back from paddington to swindon rather than getting off at reading and just pick up car next day. alternatively, got quoted cab fare of £20-£25 from v cars.

Rich, I bought 4, worked out that we bought super off peak returns to didcot, and then group savers incl underground from didcot to london. £16 each, a cracking lass selling these at Swindon station tonight. Give it a go in the morning, call centre staff in Delhi are useless and will insist it cannot be done this way!

So the Group savers are not valid for Swindon to London. They may be valid from Chippenham to London. Am I right ?
