Interesting article in the Times, especially about renovating the stadium to put more standing space in.

Been there, loved it.  The world would be a poorer place without FC St Pauli.

Pfft, you St Pauli lot make me sick.

Just you wait until Fortuna Dusseldorf join you in the Bundesliga, then you will see a proper stadium and we can give you another proper spanking.

The Weltpokalsiegerbesieger almost back in the big time!

Sankt Pauli have had a quality season and I would love to see them get back to the top flight this year after all their troubles since the last time they were up there. A proper breath of fresh air. Millerntor has needed has needed some work for ages. Last time I went (2005?) it was a proper dump, but in a good way. Graffiti all over the place and everything looked as though it was knocked up by some cowboy.

Fortuna have had a great season too considering they were in the 3. Liga last season but I doubt they'll make the relegation playoff this season. None of the 3 teams relegated from the 1. Liga last season are going back up!

I'm looking at doing a couple of european games next season, that's gone to the top of the list, sounds bloody brilliant.

I see what you mean.

BTW, really enjoyed the piece on St Pauli, and brown kits are ace.

ST Pauli > any other German team. Fact*.

* shame about their Celtic link though!

Don't blame me, it's my German  relatives (don't mention the war) fault. They live not 10 minutes walk from the ground. Though Uncle Hienze (RIP) was Hamburg. Sell out.

I have to go there Cool

I've been to several other German grounds and been overwhelmed how proper their football experience is.  Just about every German I've met seems to be a St Pauli fan or employee.  I have a cousin (not you though SY, you should be so lucky) who had or has a season ticket at the Millerntor.  All have invited me to their vibrant, green city. I'm not a bundesliga glory hunter, I even checked the results ooh, once a year when they dropped back to the regional league.  My mate's got the t shirt.....

And I'm so rubbish, I still haven't been.

The 'Retter' one? I got that when I lived(ish) in Hamburg. Thought I was some sort of super club-saving hero for buying that. Or do you mean the replica shirt?

The Retter one.  Was that also the one they did where the more t shirts they sold, the cheaper local beer became in the city?  Or something.

What a club.

Pretty sure they have links with Celtic, for whatever reason
