My sister and her boyfriend are buying season tickets this season and they're Liverpool plastics. Although in his defence he spent his childhood in Liverpool. They both came to 2 or 3 games last season, less than they attended for Liverpool, and he was so upset after Millwall beat us, he decided he must support us all of next season.

Shown him the light heh?

Funny how we adopt a fan as he thought the shirt is nice, sounds plastic. More to supporting a team than wearing a shirt. Most of the loyal fans this club has would not be seen dead walking around in a top they bought thats sole purpose is to promote brands like fifa10. More to supporting a team than buying a ST and wearing a shirt fella  No
Yeh, a season ticket and a shirt in the space of one season?! What a lame attempt at converting somebody. You could atleast get them to tattoo the badge on their chest and travel to Hartlepool or something.

Yes, but it's a pretty fucking good start though Roll Eyes

And WTF does this mean?..."Most of the loyal fans this club has would not be seen dead walking around in a top they bought thats sole purpose is to promote brands like fifa10.£...so anyone who has this season's shirt is not a proper fan because it's promoting EA10? (I don't have one as it happens)

Are you on a wind up or just on medication?

Oh im sorry reeves4england I do digress  Smug Fuck Off

I don't believe that you shold need to get anyone to buy a ST if they want one let them buy one of own accord if they are interested. Im sorry but if he is a yid fan and not and not of the armchair kind then I expect him to not so easily switch alleigance to a town of whom he has no connection with.

No OST just a reason alot of fans would not buy a shirt, at £40 football shirts these days are nothing of the type compared to the good old days.

Do you believe that someone who wears a official replica shirt is more of a fan? Personally I don't and im sure you'll agree. Seems to me we have recruited alot of fans because of the sponsor and design of the shirts the team wear this season.

So let me get this right. We've got loads of new fans because of our sponsorship deals....

Riiiight.

If it were true, it would be good news anyway.

Mudfish, he wasn't saying that.

He said you're implying that anyone who wears the shirt isn't a proper fan because it promotes 442 and Fifa 10.

We've had this argument before. Some people are shirters, some aren't.

A fan is someone who travels to all godforsaken parts of this great country following their team home and away.

Yes, it's not the purest of reasons but at least it gets the ball rolling, right? We can't all be Swindon/Wiltshire natives and/or those who were taken to games by their dads.

We were sponsored by GWR FM when I started my love affair with Town... It explains a lot. Probably why I still sing the radio ad for Corsham Building Plastics too.

Any story that results in new fans attending games is a good story, with nothing for me to complain about. Fuck me, we're not in a position to be choosy.

Very well said Ralphy, agreed. I just notice alot more replica wearers about than those of the dgi/strikeforce days and for children I find this great but for grown men in the pubs I drink in who have remotely no interest in Town in previous years, I just find it slightly false and the weaing of the shirt being made as more of a fashion statement. The very people who would normally don Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, L'Pool shirts and never be seen at the CG. Lets face it the shirt is a 500% improvement compared to tosh like the Kingswood shirt...? Rant over and opinions accepted.

So you are objecting to people who have recently switched allegance to the Town and bought season tickets and replica shirts. You also object to people who have previously worn the shirts of Premier League teams and now wear STFC shirts?

If we had just been promoted to the Premier League and you were pissed off about glory hunting band wagon jumpers etc. then I would see your point. However, I hate to disappoint you but we're in Division 3. As has been said, we cannot afford to be choosy and as far as I'm concerned, people switching allegance and starting to take an interest in the Town again is absolutely fantastic news and further proof were it needed, that the Club is on the up again.

I was more critical than most about our day trippers who completely ruined Wembley...

...however, we need more fans - no matter what they were before or how we got them. As long as they muck in like the rest of us, become a part of it, become a part of us.

Make no mistake Dave, it was the shit performance that ruined Wembley, nothing else..get that right and everything else would have looked after itself.

I still drink petrol, but I'll be damned if I can find a Burmah garage to get it from!
