Make no mistake Dave, it was the shit performance that ruined Wembley, nothing else..get that right and everything else would have looked after itself.
Perhaps I should have added atmosphere in there somewhere... Although you are right, the team did play a huge part.

I think it's great that people with other allegiances are signing up. If they're living here and want live football then get them the fuck down to The Town End! Got a couple of mates who are passive football fans, but me dropping round there every Saturday with a fuck off huge grin, gushing about how great we'd been through the course of the season has got them hooked. They'll be back next season - well, one of them are moving away but the other can't wait to get back.
I was also heavily critical of the newbies at Wembley, but everyones gotta start somewhere right? Just hope a few hundred decide to come back next season.

FFS, who cares what fans wear to matches. Some of my mates wear Town shirts, some don't. It is completely irrelevant. What is important is that you support the team, surely?
And that takes us back full circle to DV's original point about spectators vs supporters. Spectators should have amphetamines handed out to them at the turnstile.

Sometimes people can't win. If they turn up freely admitting they haven't been interested before, they are clearly a "plastic" and a "cunt".
If they continue not to attend, they are again a "plastic", and again a "cunt".
If we want attendances to increase, new people will have to come. Quite logical really. The already-going every week group can either make them welcome, or call them cunts. I know which I would prefer.

Fans have got to start supporting at some point. The plastics are those who start when times are good and ditch when times are bad.
I would love to see the County Ground packed out with old and new fans alike, for many seasons to come.

Incredibly late reply I know, but... (long rant coming up so prepare yourself) Shown him the light heh? Funny how we adopt a fan as he thought the shirt is nice, sounds plastic. More to supporting a team than wearing a shirt. Most of the loyal fans this club has would not be seen dead walking around in a top they bought thats sole purpose is to promote brands like fifa10. More to supporting a team than buying a ST and wearing a shirt fella Firstly he's a Tottenham supporter who doesn't get to many games. Can't afford a season ticket and a day out for him is about £100 per game (train + ticket + food), and that's if he can even get a ticket! Of course he's plastic if that's how you define it, I don't deny that. Should I tell him to sod off then? To have not come to 14 games this season (inc Millwall away), stick £40 in the STFC coffers with his shirt, not bring more mates to Wembley, and to not decide to want to buy a season ticket next year? He must have personally spent £300 this year on STFC... We didn't "adopt a fan as he thought the shirt is nice". He wanted to watch live football, as sky isn't the same! He bought the shirt after only coming to 3 games in the town end as he enjoyed himself, not before! So you're right, what an absolute :cunt:. I'll tell him we don't want people like him at the County Ground. People start to turn up - what a plastic cunt, why weren't you here before? People don't turn up - why are you supporting teams via sky you plastic cunt? "Plastic cunts" and the very young, are who will eventually become "loyal supporters". We should be trying to encourage them, not get rid of them. If they want to sing, they'll move to the Town End, if they want to watch quietly they'll be in one of the many spare seats in the Arkells or DR... it's all money for my beloved STFC! My mates favourite town song? Our little UB40 number. Ok rant over, and hopefully I didn't offend anyone too much...

I don't believe that you shold need to get anyone to buy a ST if they want one let them buy one of own accord if they are interested. Im sorry but if he is a yid fan and not and not of the armchair kind then I expect him to not so easily switch alleigance to a town of whom he has no connection with.
You're completely right, after all he's only lived here about 4 years after moving to the area for work after uni. No doubt next someone will moan he wasn't going earlier or something! And for the record, my mate wanted to buy a season ticket, I didn't apply any undue pressure or anything, just suggested it might be better value for him as he'd been to so many games this season. In his own words "how can I not at £199?" (well done AF + the board). !!!

quite right - that's how it starts - I don't come from here - family support Fulham the old man used to go to Chelsea so I supported Chelsea ( yes I used to go - when they were shit). I didn't jump on the STFC premirship bandwagon cos I thought it was unfair. Mates nagged me to go and now I've had a season ticket for 10 years and I've got a shirt - I am a fucking STFC supporter and if you say otherwise I'll make you eat my STFC duvet and matching curtains and I'll stick my STFC drinks cooler up your rectum !!!!

What some silly comments from Mudfish. Firstly, I don't believe many people would fork out £40 for a Swindon shirt unless they did have some genuine affection for the club whether it be loyal or part-time supporter. As previously mentioned, we are a third division club and up until this season not a particularly good one. On that basis I can't see someone who has no interest in the club making the effort to go to the club shop to buy a shirt because of who sponsors it. Secondly, I don't think anyone could be talked into parting with upwards of £200 for a season ticket unless it was something they wanted to do. Some of my friends pay £60 a month for gym membership and have tried to get me to join on the basis of the wonderful facilities on offer. Personally it doesn't interest me, so I've not joined!
