I've been a none smoker for 3 months or so. I have had the odd lapse, but i haven't enjoyed it. I haven't noticed any difference in anything either BR, but i do wonder whether that's the smoker in me convincing me smoking is actually every bit as good as i fondly remember.

I have quit before though and definitely felt the benefits then.

I still wake up sometimes with a mouth that tastes like an ashtray. The most logical reason that I can think of is that I am still exhaling fumes from all the crap that is still in my lungs, either that or it could be something psycological (sp).

Either way that, and other side effects, can be quite unpleasant even after all this time.

I've smoked since before xmas, having pneumonia sort of put me off.  The idea of having a puff is heaven but the taste is just pure rank.  even the smell is rank to me now Sad

"Any tips or hints are gratefully received."

Best way to give up is to just give up and not tell anyone. As soon as you tell people you're desperately trying to give up smoking, it becomes the elephant in the room. Don't mention it and you'll be surprised how few people notice.

Thats if you really want to give up of course.

I will be fag-free four years in September after giving up when moving in with my good lady.  This will also be the month of the birth of my first born child.  That's not relevant - i just like to bring it up.

There's nothing to 'give up'. Just choose not to smoke!

Yes. He was a 100 a day man for a long time. He stopped and prolonged his life by about 15-20 years before he eventually died of lung cancer, which was caused by the cigarettes he had previously consumed.
