Penalty to Liverpool. Blatant Ngog dive.

Was it a penalty? Was it a dive?

Whilst it looks like he dived, I'd still say it was a penalty as if Ngog hadn't jumped to avoid the challenge he'd have been taken out (and maybe injured). Carsley didn't get anywhere near the ball, was very late and would have got booked as well if Ngog hadn't jumped.

Surely if a player tries to avoid a challenge, the decision should be the same as if they hadn't and contact had been made?

Have a think about what you've typed there. All a player would have to do is to mince into the vicinity of a defender and then jump into the air to get a free kick/penalty - Your moral compass is once more way off course.

What are you on about?

Watch it again

Ngog had just skipped over Carsley and could've easily carried on, but he decided to dive.

If it had happened halfway up the pitch, Carsley slides in, misses the ball and the player, Ngog just skips over him and carries on, easy.

Never a penalty, should've been a booking for Ngog.

Ngog is a diver..end of. People like him should be banned for a minimum 6 games, but all refs will look at that incident, and he'll be lucky to get given a penalty for quite a long time, a bit like Eduardo after the furore after his dive against Celtic.

someone mentioned this in the pub at the time. i thought that in this case, it would be obstruction rather than a foul, but therefore an indirect free-kick rather than a penalty. fuck knows if that is even close to being right though
