Anyone know if the Secret Garden Party is any good?

I need a festival to go to this summer.

Not keen on U2 one bit although there's usually plenty on as an alternative.

You mean U2 actually agreed to play Glasto? I thought they didn't get enough money for that? Greedy pricks. Maybe they have realised their career is coming to an end?

They think its a charity gig - someone told Bono that the local residents could no longer afford their M & S peppermint tea bags due the the recession.

My missus' dad went to the first Pilton Pop Festival... I think he went because Pete Townshend did an acoustic set but I know that Stackridge were the first band to play the festival and the organisers gave out some free milk.

I went to that first Glastonbury, seem to remember it it as being in September though rather than a solstice thing..I'd been to the Shepton Mallet one and the Isle of Wight, and so developed a taste for this sort of drug fuelled madness.  It wasn't anywhere near as good as the other two, but being reasonably near worth having a look.

So all of you lucky buggers who have tickets will get to see the finest band on the planet. The following is from 'The Rat's Lair':

18 February
And they said it would never happen!Glastonbury 2010:

The Stranglers are playing at Glastonbury. Despite many years of rumours about feuds between the band and organisers, we can confirm they will be appearing at Britain's best known festival in Pilton on Friday 25th June.

Unfortunately, the festival is already totally sold out but the band is following a Glastonbury tradition and will be playing a low-key warm up in the West country area the night before their appearance.

Details of the low-key gig must remain under wraps for the time being but we will announce the details through the site as soon as we are able. This gig is happening to reward any disappointed fans in the area (and beyond) who are unable to get into Glastonbury.

We'll bring you the ticket link as soon as we have it. We also hope that for those of us unable to attend the festival, the BBC treats us to some great live footage of the band over the course of the weekend.

Stay tuned for other high-profile gig news coming in the next few days...

I disagree. This will be the first festival that i have been to where i have not had tough decisions to make on what band to watch on different stages. Snoop dog (if he gets a visa) is the only act that is getting me excited. Stevie wonder will be fantastic when im there, i know that but he is hardly someone that would of been on my wish list.

I think its the weakest Glasto line-up for years and for a 40th birthday- a real let down. Of course this is my opinion, everyone has their own.

The 5 days will be a right laugh anyway due to beer, drugs, getting off with random birds and having a laugh with the boys but......still a weak musical line-up.

I s'pose it depends what your in to. Main stage line-ups are pretty "meh", but there's plenty of good lesser-known acts to be found on the other stages.
