Unless he's got himself in some semblance of fitness then it's a huge gamble and goes completely against Fitton's philosophy.

I think now may be the time Wilson realises a change of plan may be required because the other one hasn't paid off.

We've been down this road twice before; in 80's with Peach/Rollings and then with Thorpe/Cureton,
it ended with the manager's on both occasions losing their jobs. They need to think this through
very carefully.

This is where a decent manager earns his corn though, by sniffing out a replacement in good time for a departing player....Wilson has had long enough to replace Cox with someone, and seemingly failed.

On AM's point about Thorpe/Cureton...King although a poor coach could spot a player, Cureton didn't work out, but the following season he was leading scorer in the CCC with ColU, which suggests it wasn't a completely hopeless move.

Wilson gets a bit longer...he earned that by doing the job required last season, and he merits a few more games this, to see whether his summer strategy has been a success.

If it isn't then we're back to firefighting and weeks of speculation about the usual suspects.

I've no idea, it's not my job.  I had no idea who Cox was when he turned up, but someone in Sturrock's staff noticed him.

The fact we haven't signed anyone doesn't mean there's no players out there.
