Or Samba could easily be both?

I'll reserve judgement until the last day of the transfer market. Lets face it, Wilson has made no seecret of the fact that it's strikers he's after. I don;t see any problem whatsoever with playing with one up front in pre-season, that's what pre-season is for.

the last day of the transfer market (although better late than never) is still not good enough.
fitton has already talked about this season and the fact that it is CRUCIAL we get off to a good start (which I agree with). By the end of august thats 4 games or so in,  if we only have paynter as striker for those games we are in trouble.(he could get injured aswell - peacock or macklin anyone?!)
ok we may not concede many but I cant see where the goals are coming from, so if we went 0-1 down in a game we may suddenly find it difficult to get back into it.

I'd prefer us to start with just Paynter and look at the loan market later on then panic buy and reduce our budget when we need to get another replacement at Christmas.

We seem to be doing a lot better at signing a better calibre of player so far this summer than we were last, so I'm willing to keep the faith for now.

Last season seeemed to be a case of scoring a couple of goals per game but conceding 3. Next season as it stands could be a case of watching many low scoring/conceding games (hopefully I am wrong). Obvious I know, but we need to score goals and surely we need to strengthen there.

No shit sherlock.  I presume 15+ a season strikers are being released at a rate of knots by clubs around the Country but we are just not interested in them.

Given the summers track record for potential calibre of signings, I'm more than happy to have faith in the Management team who have made it abundantly clear that we need at least 2 more strikers.  Hardly a desire to go with a one up front.

i dont want, like anyone else  to see panic buys.but it is blatantly obvious we need at least 1 striker of quality and sharpish.i dont care if it's a loan but we need one nonetheless.
easier said than done,i know.

I still don't understand why having brought unproven players like Spencer and Samba on trial that we did not bring Dean Bowditch down for a look, think he would be worth a punt even as a 3rd or 4th choice striker.  I still however have faith that Wilson has a couple of great strikers up his sleeve and will secure them in advance of the first game.

I'm not sure that Wilson has much of a record for getting good strikers.

It might be interesting for someone like DV to do a bit of research, but I think Georgi Hristov at Barnsley was one of his...he of the Yorkshire women were beer swilling pigs quote...Lee Miller at the Shitheads...comical missed header at the CG.  Clive Platt at MKD, bit of a donk.  Richie Barker at HPool, did a job I suppose.

At Sheff Wed he got shot of Di Canio, and replaced him with er nobody I can think of, although Juan Cobian got a few games.
