How much was it before the setanta collapse

I think next season they'd have been getting about £30m a season from Setanta.

One thing that amused me about this signing was that Leeds United, the self appointed 'big' club in League One have also signed a new full back.  They have acquired Jason Crowe, ex-Grimsby & Northampton on a free whilst 'little' Swindon Town, who could never afford Douglas's wages have also signed a Scotland U-21 captain & 'B' international for a £100,000.

Wonder which one is the better player & which club shows the more ambition?

Jason Crowe is pretty good from what I've seen of him.

He was - when he was at Portsmouth he was a very stylish defender.  Not so sure these days, at 29 - 30 I'd say his best years are behind him.  Can't say he made a huge impact at Northampton last year either.  Odd signing for Leeds though, don't you think?

That was a great achievement by them as well.

Get sick of people running down the UEFA cup. Its a great competition for the fans. Not so great for TV, but there you go.

Agreed. I am eagerly anticipating the Europa League draw so I can see if I can get to a Hearts away game this season

I find it hard to judge the quality of Scottish football because all we see down here are highlights of Rangers vs Celtic, usually in a Cup Final or key league game or else 'howlers' by goalkeepers from one of the less prominent sides. About once a decade there is another non 'Old Firm' side that comes good, for example Fergie's Aberdeen or Jim McLean's Dundee United but generally the title is destined for either Rangers or Celtic before the season's even begun.  Mind, the Premiership is going down the same route I reckon.
If Rangers & Celtic did come into the Premiership, they'd take time to adjust to it but I reckon within 3 seasons they'd be challenging for honours.  There is too much passion, pride & popular support for either club to be content just to make the numbers up.

He's looked okay on occasions that I've seen him. But he was the one left pulling his pants up after Cox got his hat-trick last season. He got ran ragged and turned inside out all night.

As someone else pointed out. Exhibit A: Newcastle United. Support and opinion/belief/love amongst supporters does little for winning.

Besides, imo it's not football passion that makes those sides the way they are, it's their passion for cunty sectarian bigotry and religious hatred. For that reason alone, I hate those clubs and hope they NEVER set foot in the premiership (at least until they can grow up and act like adults). There's no place for religion in football.

Passion in north east clubs is a myth Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough have all demonstrated in recent years the fans will not go if the team is doing bad.

These poor North East clubs ain't half getting picked on at the moment Smiley

I'm interested to see how their fans react this summer without our assumptions et al - I imagine many Newcastle fans are fully aware that the rest of the nation seem to be watching them and hoping only 20,000 turn up or something like that.

How many would Celtic and Rangers get if they were mid table in The Championship?

Don't know because it'll never happen.

In fairness, my point had nothing to do with the Glasgow clubs.

As I was saying on another thread about Cuthbert, I think he will be great for us. Just had a message from another Scotland fan saying he will be our player of the season next year!
