Middlesborough have also reached a UEFA final. The only reason the Jockos have is thet they were too shit for the grown ups final - they had to take part in the losers cup.

A well thought out response as normal, they put out teams from Germany, Portugal and Italy along the way not bad for a team from a supposed inferior league.

No supposed about it - 100% inferior.

It's all hypothetical isn't it? We can only guess whether The Glasgow 2 would do well or not so in England. European Cup competitions don't truly reflect a teams ability anway, too many clubs field weakened teams nowadays

...However, as C_S says there can be no "supposed" about it, the SPL is far more inferior than the Premiership, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga.....

It is true and entirely logical for a country the size of Scotland should produce a league inferior to the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga.  Celtic and Rangers are an interesting case and have had success in Europe.  The rest of the league is at about the standard you would expect.

The national team have, with the exception of the Vogts period, consistently excelled themselves in my opinion, compared to other nations with similar populations and leagues.  However, I am prepared to be shot down on that - I'm not expert on Scottish football.

At least yours is a fair and reasoned opinion.  I was in no way trying to say Scottish league was on par with premier league or La Liga was just saying it is much better than some people think and I think some people judge it without really watching it or knowing much about it.

I'd agree with that.  I also think that, from what I 've watched, the SPL produces a lot of very entertaining matches.  As a neutral, you can't ask for more than that.

The SPL conjures up some shite - but doesn't every league?

Bolton vs. Wigan anyone? No thanks!

I tried watching some SPL games towards the end of the season. They were all fucking shit. The Conference play off final was more entertaining and had better quality football than the last day SPL relegation battle I watched.

Sure you get shit games in every league but I reckon the SPL has more than their fair share. Which is supported by how much they get for the TV rights, they'll be getting £13m a season in future compared to £88m for the Football League. SPL is shit and no fucker wants to watch it.

Quite a bit more than Setanta could get back through subscriptions, apparently.

That was a great achievement by them as well.

Get sick of people running down the UEFA cup. Its a great competition for the fans. Not so great for TV, but there you go.

I've got nothing wrong with the competition, but I'm sure fans would enjoy it more if clubs took it more seriously. Ask Aston Villa fans.
