402-8. Swann with a reverse sweep to hauritz to bring up the 400. pitch is turning Panesar and Swann will be dangerous on this pitch

I think most of us would have settled for 435.  Shame to see Swann stranded on 47, but that's just detail.

Now for the spinners.  Let there be carnage!

I've not seen much of the new Aussie line-up (well, I actually hadn't heard of a couple of them) does anybody know what strength they've got in their batting order?

England look pretty strong all the way down to Swann, but in recent history the Aussie's have struggled past number 7.

Not a huge amount Sam. They've started well though tbh. Great knock from Swann that's put us in the driving seat but we'll need a few wickets after lunch.

mitchell johnson at 8 is an all rounder. so they can bat quite far down, but they have tempremental batsman, i.e ponting, clarke, haddin are three that either get runs or get out quickly, the others will get runs &/or stay for a bit having strike rates of 40-50.

need to get freddie of at hughes, broad just didnt have the bounce that harmison had in the lions game. Katich hasn't really had a lot to do, so as soon as we get hughes out we can get an idea of how its going to pan out.

Keep these 2 on for a bit then try the spinners. We don't seem to be getting much luck.
