Pretty even day over all I'd say.

Spent all day at work waiting from break to break to go check the ball by ball on the beeb. Damn you, not giving me internet access at my desk!

After we lost those first 3 wickets it was looking like it'd be a difficult day. Thankfully Collingwood and KP pulled us out of a sticky situation, although it was disappointing to see KP give his wicket away so cheaply. Freddie and Broad did well and it's a shame they've both gone. Hopefully we'll be able to bat out the morning session and a bit more, and push for a score of around 400. The pitch is cutting up nicely and a bit of spin off the pitch could do wonders for our bowling attack.

What an odd nation we are.  A guy plays better cricket than we've witnessed for years in our team, continually outscores the rest, top scores against Australia and gets royally slated.  You have to take the shit shots that get him out because they are the same shots that gets him a 50+ average.  Given we've just had a pretty good start on a wicket that will potentially favour our bowling attack, scored at a decent rate when there is a good chance some time will be lost to rain over Friday/Saturday, I'd have thought we'd all be up for giving the aussies a good bashing.  You know, trying to put some doubt in their minds, ram home their averageness etc.  No no, better to knock our own.

Like the way we score our runs at a good rate now...like Prior, plays without without worry and keeps the runs ticking...another 50 odd will be good...another 100 then we will be in a strong position.

An interesting first day. I'd say we're just about in pole position as 350 plus in the first innings of any test is a decent enough total. Good to see Freddy and Prior in full flow but was a shame they fell to 2 beautys from the new ball. KP and Colly dug us out of a hole but both gave their wickets away cheaply. Cook I felt also gave his wicket away. It looks like the pitch is turning so think we could have an advantage with 2 spinners. Looking fairly healthy i'd say.
